Worth a look, if nothing else, for this quote:

We tend to think of the French as a bunch of pussies, their tanks and troops welded into reverse gear, but in Algeria, the French were determined and unbelievably ferocious.

True story -- the French were ferocious for a reason, coming off twin ass-kickings in WWII and later Indochina. Plus, the enemy they were fighting -the FLN- were about as barbaric and savage as they come.

Anyways...
