Gun-Day Sunday: MagPul's Latest

OK, I’ll admit it’s pretty nifty:

But, as LtCol Jeff Cooper used to ask, What’s it for?

That was perhaps a little gratuitous, but still… OK, I understand the concept, but its “tactical niche,” to borrow another Cooper-ism, is at present unclear. However, all in all, good on them for tossing things out. You never know what will come of an idea.

PS… Is it really necessary to cover your torso with the muzzle while folding it back up, or is that merely an operator issue? If it’s a design issue, I’m not sure I want one.

Interesting…Bushmaster is going to be doing the production of these for them.

The question is to see if it will be a short barrel rifle (class 3) or considered to be a pistol with a stock.

  3. olga says:

    nice thing…

as for muzzling issue, from what I could see it could be both, an operator issue AND a design flaw…

  4. bullnav says:

    Rule 1…violation.

I believe it to be an operator issue. No question about it.

  5. TRO says:

Just another thing that doesn’t look or feel like a gun but really is a gun that I am going to have to frisk for . . .

    But otherwise cool.

  6. Mule says:

If the pistol isn’t separable from the stock and able to fire on it’s own merits, wouldn’t that make it an SBR?

You gotta love the fact that Magpul is willing to look at and try just about anything. When’s the last time a company this innovative came along in the shooting industry?

  7. Lawrence says:

muzzling/foldup issue. I think that ‘procedure’ was intended to help us view what he was doing, not show us the “safe” way to do it.

But, yeah. Showing us the wrong way to fold it doesn’t help his message.

The weapon is cool. But the Amish beard … most excellent.

  9. Chad says:

    My Glock is jealous!!

  10. Seg says:

Does the chin strap come with the weapon?
