IED Hunter

By Slab

It's been a busy week, training to drop bombs and whatnot. I see my post on women in ground combat arms has sparked quite a few comments, as it was intended to do.

Now for something on the lighter side. This video is hi-lar-i-ous. I will refrain from commenting on it, as these Marines have done such a great job that nothing else needs to be said.

Uncle Sam's Misguided Children.... there's a reason why Australian Diggers get along so well with them.
Kindred spirits.

Onya Jarheads.

Zoe Brain   ·  December 2, 2006 02:26 PM

Zoe there you are. Whats the deal, you don't call you don't write.

A man dumps his site and starts a new one and people start avoiding him.

I'll be it's the whole "ANZUS" thing again.

Murray   ·  December 2, 2006 05:13 PM

Brilliant!

He'd be welcome here in Oz anytime.

MarkC   ·  December 2, 2006 05:20 PM

I laughed..but I sure can't share THIS with the other Marine Moms! ;-)

Gawd...this is so like my Marine it's scary! LOL

radtec   ·  December 2, 2006 07:01 PM

Hilarious, but I'm sure some Muslim activist group will be up in arms come Monday.

Thomas   ·  December 3, 2006 01:22 AM

This is wrong in so many levels...

All I can do is keep laughing and wish I could buy that guy a beer.

cardoso   ·  December 3, 2006 06:43 AM

This vid is pretty freakin' hilarious.

Hopefully, everything is not quite what it seems. Perhaps the troops filming this are really in some kind of training area set up to show new arrivals how to look for IEDs?

I'm really hoping that those weapons aren't real. But considering some of the jarheads I've met, I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

Semper fi is apparently latin for "what me, worry?"

Curtis   ·  December 3, 2006 06:30 PM

I loved this, My nephew is a Combat Engineer in the Marines - I hope he has seen this. I am looking out for the series...

Artista   ·  December 4, 2006 08:19 AM

Eggs-sellent!

Stay safe, guys.

bobdog   ·  December 4, 2006 11:16 AM

Love it!

Curtis, what you said about a trainng area is pretty close (they're inside the wire, at least), and I'm about 90% sure that those Marines are EOD techs who know exactly what they're handling...weps are probably inert. I say "90%" and "probably" cause, well, they are Marines!

Ernest Anthony   ·  December 4, 2006 12:22 PM

Crikey! Rasslin' those pesky 155s looks as fun as catchin' a greased pig.

turingo   ·  December 4, 2006 03:07 PM

.....And to think these are the guys standing between us and the forces of darkness. Damn, are we lucky! I love them!

Pixelkiller   ·  December 5, 2006 04:13 PM

I thought the video was very entertaining and holds high training value. Keep up the good work!

David A. Luster   ·  December 5, 2006 11:58 PM

Black humor at it's worst.

Very disturbing!

Tim   ·  December 7, 2006 11:51 AM

WHY DO YOU GUYS ALWAYS CALL THEM 155'S?
MOST OF THEM ARE 152...IN THAT CATEGORY
IF NOT THEN THEY ARE 122 OR 127'S
THAT COMES FROM AN EOD MAN

JAYHAWK   ·  December 7, 2006 11:01 PM

Tim, black humor at it's worst? What's so disturbing? It's a couple of Marines making light of a bad situation to help pass the time and cope with stress.

Jayhawk, I call them 155's because I'm a dumb grunt and it's easier to remember. Actually, in the AO I last worked in, most of them were 130's, but we still referred to them as 155's. Again, dumb grunts don't really know the difference, and "one five five" has a better ring to it. By the way, my hat is off to you and all of your colleagues. It takes some very large cojones to do what you guys do.

Lightning   ·  December 8, 2006 03:29 AM

Laughed so hard I couldn't breathe. You'd fit rit in, in the land of oz mate.

Sam   ·  December 8, 2006 05:52 AM

Most excellent! Nothing but respect for all you Marines and Soldiers. We have it easier flying you in and out of the AOR.

The Grinch   ·  December 11, 2006 11:55 AM

FYI all viewers, Black Humor Keeps EOD types going. You're either running or laughing. And if running, you laugh afterward. My hat's off to this new generation of EOD Techs, no mater what branch of service. And these nuts, well from the evidence, they go the distance and that's all that counts. Good luck fellows, I hope you come home grinning.

Spear One   ·  December 14, 2006 06:31 AM

Have to love them Marines!

All that stuff is real and has been defused...realitively safe...nothing they did scared me. Made me laugh though. Great men doing what others fear, thank god they love the Corps and country. Cant say all americans understand that without these guys we'd have nothing. DAngerous world we live in and I thank God I served and others serve to protect our freedoms.

curt USMC ret   ·  December 15, 2006 05:18 AM

Who does he remind me of...?

Ronbo   ·  December 17, 2006 07:15 AM

Superb ! Bloody Brilliant !

Dave   ·  December 17, 2006 07:42 AM

When I discovered skype earlier this year, I decided to use it to find and chat with the military/support personnel....in appreciation for what they do...
HINT: they're ALL this funny...they all have a great attitude..doesn't matter the service or whether they're USA or Brits...or Aussies...or wherever they come from...and I haven't lost any of my chatters...
I DO need to know where to search for the ones on GITMO...they're obviously using a different venue other than skype...anybody know, email me at hmjulikhan@Gmail.com

Thanks , guys..you are FANTASTIC!!!!

As being part of TF IronClaw/SaberClaw, watching this vid made me laugh and think back to the dumb stuff we did with UXO/IED's. Keep up the damn good work out there......Saving Lifes....One IED At A Time!

Tasco   ·  January 23, 2007 07:49 PM

Good job and great design!

Cheap drug pe   ·  February 12, 2007 04:24 AM

Just wanted to say thanks for posting the link to my video! It's great to see that it was well received!

Just for the record, we weren't EOD, we were Marine M.P.'s who were working with an Army engineer company, so we had access to plenty of good toys to use as props.

Thanks for all of the great comments, and thanks for all of the support!
