Picture of the Day: Afghan Exam
By John
Dude.
More than 1,800 perspective cadets rise for the playing of the Afghan National Anthem before the start of the Afghan College Entrance Exam for the Afghan National Army Academy, Kabul, Afghanistan, Oct. 25. The perspective cadets here are hoping to be one of the approximately 300 chosen for the new freshman class. The exam makes up 80 percent of their final admissions score. The smart ones are holding out for the Afghan National Air Force Academy. Hah!
So, are "persepective" cadets ones chosen for a diversity of viewpoint?
Enquiring minds want to know.
Of course, the original is worded that way as well. Silly error, someone should educate the Staff Sgt on proper usage ;-)
Great image, though.

WOW...now this says something about patriotism, selflessness, and believing in something much larger than oneself. I challenge anyone (probably not on this board) to assert the change in circumstances in Afghanistan are anything less than spectacular.
Of course, the job is not done. If we learned anything from the Soviet experience in Afghanistan, then we know a small band of determined guerrillas can keep things less than completely safe for an extended period of time. We also know the Taliban will doggedly pursue its quest to return to power.
Considering the recent events in Pakistan, the situation to the east grows more unpredictable each day. Additionally, Iran remains the thorn in the civilized world's side. Taking all this together, these prospective cadets are probably fully aware of what their acceptance to the Afghan National Army Academy will mean...they will see action, lots of it, and soon.
