Picture of the Day: It's Beautiful Man

The Hog is only like my favorite airplane EVA…

An A-10 Thunderbolt II pulls away after receiving fuel from a KC-10 Extender flying over Afghanistan Dec. 14. The tanker is from the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, home of the largest air refueling wing in Southwest Asia. Unit aircrews fly KC-10s and KC-135 Stratotankers in support of wartime operations. This pic is great, photographer got close enough so that we can see her curves. Hawt.

Nice pic, but are you sure that is Afghanistan? If it is things must be slowing down over there. That Hog is lightly armed,

    Lokks like a LAU-3 on station 1 and a LAU- 68 (2.75 rocket launchers) on stations 2&7 and a GBU-12.

Hopefully he is heading back to the barn after a good day of kicking some ass!

    Great picture, Thanks

    It’s my 2nd favorite airplane ;)

As a former CDAT I was always glad that these guys were on OUR side…..

  5. Old Tanker says:

    mustang,

What more do you need to fight the taliban?? They aren’t driving around in armored vehicles…

  6. mustang says:

    Old Tanker,

I was hoping for some SUU-30′s (cluster bomb) or some “snake and nape” ie. Mk82′s and BLU-27′s napalm! oops my bad that is Incindegel. Or as we use to call it on F4 Phantoms, the “shake and bake” configuration!lol

extra crispy tangos???? okay, I’ll go for that!!! When I was a tanker we hoped they would bring back Willie P or the Bee hive (although I understand the Bee hive has been sort of resurrected!!) ;-)

I don’t know about you, but I think Noonan needs a girlfriend. I mean, one that isn’t all steel, wings, and circuitry.

  9. FbL says:

It occurs to me that although I know John, I don’t comment here often. The above was said with a twinkle in the eye and tongue firmly in cheek.

  10. Awesome photo! Thanks for this, and keep it up!

  11. The Loon says:

Sensational photograph, but the nose art is pretty darned stunning!

  12. sandbag says:

That frame is always a welcome sight. The USAF needs more of them.

  13. Slab says:

Meh, give me a section of skids (AH-1Ws and UH-1Ns) any day. For that matter, I’ll take an AV-8B or an F/A-18D over an A-10. I am a little biased, but I guess I’ll just continue to be the naysayer around here.

Mustang, you ain’t gonna see cluster bombs, unguided Mk82s, or BLU-27s. Precision guided ordnance is the preferred method these days.

Nice shark face on the nose.
