I think that’s pretty much the Air Force’s entire Osprey inventory….
Air Force CV-22 Ospreys take off from a Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. May 1 for a training mission. The Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft that combines vertical takeoff, hover and landing qualities of a helicopter with the normal flight characteristics of a turboprop aircraft. Maybe the Air Force is the lucky ones. Given the track record of this goony bird, and the low and slow approach necessary you will not lose as many of our guys. RPG’s love low and slow.
Gentlemen: Please help a civilian to understand why this is a good idea, because the my only thoughts are: 1. the public needs to see new equipment going to Iraq and 2. the contract needs to be fulfilled.
All the various problems associated with the Osprey have made the news in Canada, along with genuine surprise that it will now be sent to a combat zone.
I look forward to more of your opinions.

When we went from biplanes to mono-wings, there were problems. When we went from props to jets, there were problems. When we went from aircraft to helicopters, there were problems.
Whats so different about this new technology? Of course you’re going to have problems. They will all work themselves out in time.
