Contest for Military Bloggers

From the VA:

VA Mortgage Center.com is proud to announce our new blog. In our continued efforts of educating veterans and those currently on active duty, we have decided to keep our visitors better informed with updates to their benefits and changes in the industry via a blog.

We are awarding $250 to the top 10 military related blogs, according to votes from our users. And the top military blog will receive a total of $3,000.

Blackfive will win the 3 large, but if OPFOR is in the top ten, prize money will go to Fisher House. (Blackfive’s idea, he picked Soldiers’ Angels).

I voted. But you miss the point. This poll is simply a marketing device to drive people to their website for doing mortgage loans. As a person who has done loans for over 10 years, and a VET, I find this method of lead generation particularly offensive. I must say that VA loans are not the best loans for most Vets today. The reason that they are promoting the VA loan many Vets think that it is a great deal, but the reality is usually different. There are better programs out there for most Vets.

whatever, they’re a business. If they’re gonna help send some money towards charities, then so be it. They’re not doing anything illegal or immoral.

  3. SGT Jeff (USAR) says:

I don’t know if Federal VA is a great idea, but I do know that the Oregon VA loan program is the best thing I’ve ever seen.

  4. a concerned vet says:

it’s a scam – stay off the site.
