-The New York Times would expose the Manhatten Project during initial uranium enrichment phases.
-International A.N.S.W.E.R. would respond to the attack on Pearl Harbor by organizing a rally to condemn US aggression in East Asia.
-Britain's counterstrikes against German V-2 rocket emplacements would be labeled a "disproportionate response."
-So would Operation Overlord.
-Michael Moore would tell us "there is no facist threat."
-Cindy Sheehan would be photographed hugging Benito Mussolini, praising his emphasis on affordable health care.
-The United Nations would demand they be allowed to inspect concentration camps before even considering passing a weak resolution in the Security Council.
-Academics around the country would go on TV questioning why we declared war on Germany when it was Japan who attacked us.
-Germany, Italy, and Japan would propose a resolution for UN peacekeepers along the borders of their newly conquered territories.
-Newsweek would run the headline "What will it take to win?" with Allied forces bearing down on Berlin.
-International media outlets would demand access to Allied prisoner of war camps, and ignore concentration camps.
-Ward Churchill would call the dead sailors at Pearl Harbor "little Eichmanns," but neglect to think of a catch phrase for Adolph Eichmann and the rest of Hitler's cabinet.
-Kofi Annan would lead a delegation to Berlin, ceding France, the low countries, North Africa, the Balkans, Poland, and central Europe, while proclaiming "peace in our time."
-The war against Japan would be labeled "racist" by a prominent team of intellectuals.
-Somehow, some way, the whole mess would be blamed on the Jews.

I'm flattered! Sad but true.
Senators would angrily criticize the president for not assembling a broader coalition that did not just include such token allies as Britain, Canada, and Australia.
In the aftermath of Midway, talking heads on network news would be asking whether the victory "was worth those lost onboard the Yorktown".
Overlord would be deemed a "quagmire". Comparisons between hedgerows and the jungles of Vietnam would rapidly appear in all major papers. By June 7th, the MSM would be asking whether it was time to cut our losses and flee back to England.
The opposition party would demand a timetable for withdrawal.
Every Japanese-launched incendiary balloon would get a headline describing where it landed and how much destruction was caused... because people have a right to know!
The Battle of the Bulge would be proof of quagmire.
That the US chose to meet with, and aid, Stalin is proof that we are not better than the totalitarians.
A slight correction: "-Cindy Sheehan would be photographed hugging Benito Mussolini, praising his emphasis on efficient mass transit."
After a concentration camp was freed, some Allied guard would do something stupid and you know where the media would focus their attention.
The Sad reality of Today’s America.
Don’t forget the entire idea of bombing German industry would have had to be ended (before we even got the stage or purposely targeting the work force of those factories) after the mainstream media came back with photos of the thousands of dead “innocent” German children, women, and babies including some rather thin looking residents paraded around by some German social worker/doctor by the name of Mengela (even thou they didn’t look to be dug out of the rubble oddly in the photos).
Running tickers of both the rising numbers of our dead soldiers and the innocent dead civilians on CNN and at the beginning and end of every news story on the war.
Every month the talking heads would trot out a new “its all over we lost” scenario of course changing as the previous one is proven wrong and things change on the ground. Of course in this process never will any credit be given for how we averted the previous doom instead just harping on the new one.
The German saboteurs inserted into the State hung with presidential authorization in NY would have resulted in War crimes charges and impeachment proceedings of Roosevelt for violating their civil rights.
The Japanese Americans instead of joining the army to prove their Americanism they would have formed JAACR (Japanese American association for civil rights) made of council with money and ties to the Japanese Emperor. With this they would have protested any participation in the WW2 of Japanese and all in all caused problems.
The Pacific front would have been called a War for Rubber and the European front would have been called War for Industrial Domination between Germany & America.
The British sinking of the Vichy France fleet in port would have been called a War Crime against an innocent nation.
The Invasion of Vichy France territory Algeria would have been called a useless unprovoked war against a neutral nation resulting in UN resolutions of immediate cease fire and withdrawal of all allied forces.
The rationing would have been debated as un-constitutional along with the communication and travel restriction most especially (why German would or Japanese Americans have their phone calls home tapped?).
Hollywood would refuse to make pro-war movies and instead would claim independence unbiased. They would then turn out one movie about how some German bomber pilot fell in love with a French girl in Paris while bombing the British colonial soldiers at Dunkirk then London. Another one about how a President by way of fictitious war became an emperor in his quest to consolidate an evil emperor over an unsuspecting congress even having a part poking at Roosevelt’s absolutes. Oh and some political hack would be on every News show possible to hype his 2hour conspiracy theory about Roosevelt and his historical family ties to British colonialism and Germany.
The things our fore fathers did without regret that today cant even be openly considered without being labeled radical extremist is many Our fore fathers did these things in the past proudly because they looked not at today’s carnage that was just part of WAR they looked at tomorrows possibilities that true Victory could achieve. They knew full well that to either not undertake those requirements or to stop short or to not finish the job meant all those horrors and sacrifices already done were of no use and just like after WW1 would be just put off, delayed, and magnified for the next War.
Just like Fascist/Germany was such polar opposite of Capitalist/Democracy their was no compromise just pauses between wars until their was only one. Capitalist/Democracy today faces Fascist/Islamic Radicals and we are polar opposites that cannot exist together. Every thing the West represents when put around the Islamic Radicals are either considered humiliating or offensive either way they cant jive together.
If we faught WW2 today I think we would have surrendered or been defeated pre-43'. If we had somehow held heart doubtful we would have negotiated a ceace fire after Normandy the hedge rows.

The NYT would have leaked the breaking of codes, several times.
Conspiracy theorist would have had a field day over how the president orchestrated Perl Harbor for his own evil ends through ignoring intelligence if not outright planting bombs in battleship row. They would have decried our sending of volontiers and materials to our allies before war was officaly declared. They would have claimed that the sinking of our merchant ships by Uboats was another setup designed to get us into "The President's War". They would have decried the president meeting with Churchill.

Liberals would stage protests burning Polish flags, saying that they started the whole thing by attacking a German radio station. They would also deny the nature of Mein Kampf, and would argue that Nazism is peaceful and respectful of other people.
Instead of all this what if nonsense. How about what really happened. A bleeding heart liberal, named FDR saw the threat posed by the nazis and tried to get the US involved. It was the Republicans who were isolationist and tried to prevent any US involvement

My initial snarky and cynical response is something like:
Democracy happened. The common man just seems destined to vote for the guy that promises everything but ends up shoving a spikey dildo up your nethers. Just take a look at the Palis.
Not that I'm against Democracy per se. It works when you have a mature, civil society. (And I'm being *very* general here)

IMO, We quit teaching/emphasising the responsibilities that go with rights.
"Conservatives" were not on the wrong side of history, any more than serious liberals are today.
Fanatically partisan Republicans were another matter - although they weren't remotely so common as the "anti-war" nuts today, some of these things did indeed happen.
In 1942, Robert McCormick's Chicago Tribune exposed the fact that we'd cracked some Japanese codes, and accused Roosevelt of letting Pearl Harbor happen on purpose so that he could implement his secret plan for war in Europe. True story, and sheer luck that the Japanese had such faith in their codes that they didn't believe it.
It was Charles Lindbergh, not Moore, who denied the fascist threat, and we were dutifully told that Treasury Secretary Morgenthau, a Jew, was secretly controlling our foreign policy.

Seriously though, let's face it folks, given that all the above is true, there is no way that we could have won WW2 with these constraints. Logically therefore we cannot win this world war unless some things seriously change. I for one have sent a son and a daughter into the Army since 9/11. My daughter did a stint in Iraq. I am too old to enlist myself and I don't know what else I can do to help win this war. Our country is divided and 1/2 don't seem to mind playing defense, waiting for the Islamists to decide where to strike us next. Clinton's strategy brought us 9/11 whether the libs want to recognize it or not.
Wars are not won on the defense people. When people are more worried about long lines at their Starbucks than whether Americans are being beheaded, war cannot be won.
The Democrats will say and do anything to get elected.
Ms. Liberal, if we lose this war you will be given two choices, convert to Islam or die. Personally I don't think you have the fortitude to fight for anything at this point. I can just about hear you:
"well, Islam is the 'religion of peace', I like peace"
and you'll done your burka and do Mohammeds dishes, while his other wives spit at you for being the coward that you are.

The saddest part I believe is that the only real question today is this =
How many dead, How many more horrendous attacks, How much more losses, How much more blood must be spilled before the west realizes we truly are in a war of survival and decides to do what must be (whatever horrors that may entail) to achieve absolute unconditional VICTORY.
It’s a sad fact that the Radicals don’t have the ability as yet to totally destroy the west but they believe that we are so self hating with our LLL ideals that they can scare US into surrender by forcing the choice of raging total war on the Radicals or surrendering.
This war is not going to stop the Islamic Radicals thirst is for world domination and there is no compromise or conditional surrender the west can offer that will quench that thirst short full unconditional surrender of the west. Folks I think the only question is How much will be enough? Were will the west reach that point this terrorist attack the next after Israel falls after E Europe falls when radicals rage Baghdad style in Paris, London, New York? What is that point was what is left of the strong in the west will stand up silence the LLL and do what must be done.
I believe the hard decision is fast approaching everyone sees the answer but no one wants to admit it or even recognize it outright it’s just to non-PC. Socialist/Nazism was incompatible with Capitalist/Democracy just as much as today Totalitarism/Islamic Radicalism is with Capitalist/Democracy it’s a two ideology enter one ideology leave Reality.
I know I sound gloomy I am. I am seeing US go to war against an enemy that knows no bounds of humanity to the point of like Iraq were they are killing their own women and children for nothing more than a PR effect of getting 15seconds of fame on CNN nightly news. That is sick beyond comprehension yet even with this reality I see US Western Society so self hating from LLL ideology that we are attempting to fight these people with gloves on one hand tied behind our back with a referee (UN) calling time outs when we knock the Radicals down and so on.
It sickens me that we have such a sizeable portion of our population that has been so diseased by a unbiased media and educational system that when it comes to US or them they actually hesitate over the choice.
On December 8, 1941, FDR would address Congress and say, "I ask you to declare that a state of war exists between Japan and the United States, and if we haven't beaten the Japanese by December 8, 1944, we'll give up."
And FDR would be lauded by the press for setting a reasonable timetable.
U.S. Ambassador to England, Joe Kennedy, would tell the Nazi German envoy that England is done, Jews are scum and that he knows that Nazi Germany and Hitler are the future and that he, and the U.S., can work with the Reich.
...oh, wait a minute...That was true. Never mind.

However, in the name of putting this sophmoric "we were for the war....in 1941" to bed, you choose to ignore the fact that there was a strong movement within the GOP known as the Internationalists, who were vocal supporters of entering the war. Henry Stimson and William Allen White come to mind....
Furthermore, your contention that the America First Committee was exclusively composed of Republicans is factually innaccurate and misleading. America First was a bipartisan coalition, with many prominent Democrats as members.
In fact, an overwhelming component of the AFC was based in the largely Democratic Chicago area, with strong Democratic support at the grassroots level.
Of course, as I said, this is a completely moot debate, because the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941 killed any partisanship that existed over entry into the war.

Actually there is movemant afoot to rewrite the history of WWII. Certain sections of Dutch society (media, education, leftwing political parties) have made it a mainstay to refer to bombing raids on Germany as "allied war crimes" without referring to the German total war tactics that determined the nature of WWII. The large Moroccan immigranr presence is being brown-nosed by attributing allied successes at Monte Casino and other battles to Moroccan troops, instead of British/American and general allies. One Dutch newspaper saw as fit to print a remark made by a Moroccan at the "official recognition of Moroccan achievement" party: "If the Moroccans hadn't of been there in 1944/45, the allies would still be slogging it out with the Germans now".
Therefore I suggest the following -
Moroccan troops relieve allies from quagmire in south of Holland.

This is great stuff. It makes me laugh and at the same time, makes me angry. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone can help me get my hands on an article I saw a couple years ago. It was titled, "If D-Day Occured Today". It was quite similar to the opening of this page. I thought it was classic. I'm looking for it and I think I may have found the right place. Any help would be appreciated.
