IDF Moves Into Lebanon

By Maj P

According to this morning's WaPo, the IDF is moving into Lebanon in force. One passage from the article describes the force as six brigades strong and numbering as many as 10,000 or more.

Not only is the fighting going on in the south of Lebanon, but reports also say that there have been heliborne raids into the valleys eastern Lebanon.

The commander of the IDF northern command is quoted as saying that his orders from his superiors were, "Don't look at your watch, do your mission, go further."

Also, more links and superb commentary via Michelle Malkin: "Forward to Bekaa Valley..."

I expect they will go until they've gotten it done.

I wonder what sort of thing they will find in the Bekaa valley? I remember one rumor that said Iraq's WMD were smuggled out of Iraq and into Syria, ultimately being stored in the Bekaa Valley. That would also explain some of the Hezbolla claims of having a nasty suprize for Israel.

I sure hope they will go and do what they need to do without paying any attention to the 'world opinion' and even us...
At this point, Israel's survival is at stake.
And yes, the Saddam's WMD are in Syria.

re: ongoing rocket attacks

Is there any practical way to interdict this type of indirect fire? Being a recovering sailor I don't understand the details of counterbattery fire etc. My frame of reference is '80s cold war battle group drills and 1987 "Earnest Will" tanker escort ops with Bull's Brigade (Spring '87 De Gar).

Is there some system that could be deployed (a la CWIS) throughout northern Isreal for rocket defense against the smaller rockets?

Criminal governing process is not served justice by logistic. IDF failed in this campaign because it is physically surrounded by the enemy. We pump up IDF logistic regularly. We seldom concur as to how IDF deploys ...after the fact.

Militant border expansion is a failed process. Assaults on Lebanon and Gaza are failed process. IDF admin strikes because they are given the logistic to strike. IDF strikes always yeild to human rights violations. Israel has yet to establish a democracy with focus on home soil and human rights. First Jesus and now Mohammed. The Jewish psyche has a big identity problem. That psyche impacts much more than present conflict around jewish borders.

Bakaa and Gaza are logistic dependent on alien weapons and our ageless arrogance in practicing unending deadly assaults on christians and moslems. We (speaking for the jewish component) never place first a logistic based on our humanity and the global human family, inviting and giving top priority to that global family. The real WMD is the crystal clear impetus to global conflict represented by what the Israel state has become.

At present, it is a moot point as to who will deploy the first suitcase dirty bomb in Beirut; Syria, Sudan, Indonesia, Kazahkestan and dozens of other less extreme nations than Israel are all teaming with related inteligentsia and combatants. My take is that the tech is with us, ...soon. Maybe wait on that damn stainless steel wall so the surface shock throws back on itself. The only excitment is in not knowing what that explosion will do to modern armed confict, we guess.

If jewish statehood is any indication, religious extremism is begging explosive development. IDF has spent decades cultivating ground-up determination. For now, if they could crucify Christ, why not tramble Mohammed's grave! Thank God we don't have logisitc launched also by Rome and Nepal. What a disgusting mess, our Israel.

As for Moslem combatatns, give them a chance to adapt their (almost everywhere prominent) tribalism to multi-national commercial charter. It's a big step forward for them. As for US combatants (aka non-church-going christianity), give them a jolt similar to the slap they got for dumping 3 boatloads of African ore six years ago. Fossil fuel is just that - soon to be outdated, forever. The Halburton fiasco (still pumping through Iran to Iraq) that walked the Bush homestead into that bloody Mesopotamian mess, it is really due for a shake down, whatever happens to the Bush clan or Halburton. (Smells like another Contra scam to me).

btw Still I think Israel could work. But the jews have to lay down a heap of borrowed fire power and welcome 3 major faith groups through open, really OPEN gates. Their primitive tribalism is walking us all into the Third World War. Maybe Europe (Germany) and China (Mongolia) could layout and force a suitable recovery. That would include losing America (completely, excepting grandparent and child visits), franchising the Moslem world (the entire brotherhood and sisterhood and all their children), and disarming Israel.

"To seek, to strive, and not to yeild," applies also to intelligent logistic. Logistic implies social and technological consideration and deployment.

I am surprised that no one has questioned my direction for U.S A. arms and support for Israel. Given tht President Bush has indeed installed us in a very long war against terrorism, and given that decades of pro-Israel action, it seems obvious that we need to find energy to move on issues elsewhere. Afghanistan and Sudan, to name but a few.
