Folks, my number’s up.
Sometime in the near future I’ll depart to an undisclosed location and begin preparations for deployment. I’ve left my job, moved out of my apartment, and have spent the last week shedding all vestiges of civilian life. My radio silence here at OP-FOR has been directly linked to those preparations. I’ll be out of touch for a while, but blogging will continue once I can get a reliable connection overseas.
It’s been great, running this blog. I look forward to continuing my contributions here, but duty calls (and duty usually has a way of getting in the way of the things you do for fun.)
OP-FOR, meanwhile, is (and has been) in good hands with John and MAJ P.
So until my next dispatch, I big you all farewell. Soon I’ll have the OP-FOR forward command post established, but until then, continue the fight, win the race, and keep the faith.

Charlie, just reading through all the above posts, just know, from deep down inside lots of folks’ hearts, we stand with you. Never question, that Americans are behind you.
There are some tough days ahead. You will question us, but know, we stand with you and your mission. Come back to this page and read each word, and hold them close to you.
A selfish thought from me. Your posts, your thoughts and insight into the battles our incredible military undertakes have been an amazing learning experience. So, selfish of me, but I look forward, with great anticipation, to your analysis of what you are living.
It’s a strange world, this Internet thing, for a 60 year old lady, but interesting, how we all come to know each other, to cherish these moments of words you share with us and we share together.
Take our words, mesh them with yours, and know, you got lots of grandmas and grandpas who wanted to stand up for our heroes returning from our war, Vietnam, but had no media or means to do so. We are cherishing this media to hold you close in our hearts, letting you know, we stand with you.
And, b- o-y, you betta stay in touch! Lettin’ us know, you are okay.
Godspeed. When you get down, kinda lean your head down on your left shoulder, and imagine, the millions of us back home, riding on that shoulder, supporting you, willing you, and loving you as we whisper in your ear, “For us, you do this.”
