DD-214 Forgery

The plot thickens, when it should be fading away. Now fake ranger and real anti-war activist Jesse MacBeth has posted an alledged Form DD-214, the army's official separation/discharge form on a MySpace account.

The form appears legit, at least after a cursory look. The language is correct (11 Bravo is the proper army speciality code for those branching into the infantry), and smaller items like the date are written in the proper military format.
But, like Jesse, the discharge paperwork comes apart after relatively minor scruntiny.
Here's why the form is bogus:
-Form attaches Jesse to BCTB 2D BN 47THIN CO D TR TC, which is a Fort Benning basic training brigade (BCTB is an ancronym for basic combat training brigade). Means one of two things: Jesse was an instructor, or a recruit.
-Time in service is listed as roughly a month and a half, which pretty much answers the instructor or recruit question.
-Misspelling on "ranger qualified."
-Box 14 for military education lists "none." An army ranger, one with combat experience no less, would have a minimum his basic training class, Ranger school class, advanced infantry school, jump school, etc listed.
-Discharge code reads JGA. 30 second Google search gives us the full translation for the JGA "reason for discharge" code: pregnancy.
-Font in boxes 11 and 13 (speciality and decorations, respectively) are different than form's standard font.
-Botton left box has some noticeable profanity. Not sure if that was a message to the milbloggers, from Jesse with love.
If Jesse was indeed a boot-camp dropout, he would have easy access to this form. You see, these DD-214s are often used as methods of verifying medical discharge from military service to potential employers/background investigators. Dishonorable discharge is a frequent disqualifier to careers in the civilian world, so the military makes the forms readily available to medical washouts for verification purposes.
This form makes Macbeth's story fairly easy to deconstruct. Jesse, as a boot camp dropout, would have an official DD-214 listening his training brigade (check), reason for discharge (check), duty station (check), name, address, and social (check, check, check). Since he made no real progress in the army, boxes listing any sort of decorations, education, combat experience, etc would be blank. With blank boxes 11 and 13, one could write just about anything in the free space, which is why the font in those boxes on Jesse's form is different from the font on the rest of the paperwork. I'm also 90% certain that forging official DoD documents is illegal.
I think Jesse just put the final nail in his coffin. In the meantime, go do something meaningful for memorial day, as there are plenty of real troops out there deserving of our appreciation and gratitude.

And I speak as a serial document forger, OMG I shudder to think at the vast quantity of leave papers, and liberty passes and badges I made over the years to further the cause of freedom, justice and the American Way.

ah, good point JD. I'm so used to my VMI buddies telling me that they're "11 bravos," I jumped at MacBeth's proper use of the language (but not the print, apparently).

FYI: The discharge code is not just pregnancy:
Entry level status performance and conduct or entry level status performance - pregnancy
His service is described as "uncharacterized"--which applies when an entry level soldier is separated under Ch 11 of AR 635-200.
Basically, dude washed out of basic.
Jesse was pregnant? I feel so betrayed.
An E-4 infantry ranger's MOS would be 11B1G or 11B1V. Breaking that down:
11 -- Infantry branch
B -- Infantry speciality
1 -- Skill level for E1 through E4
G or V -- SQI for Ranger or Airborne Ranger

Freedom of speech is for political discourse and debate. Freedom of speech has nothing to do with an open free channel for our enemies to propagandize our citizen population destroying our moral from the home front out. And this very idea when pushed with outright lies and falsified papers should be pursued to the utmost.
At the very least (if no politicians will allow the Sedition card our current crop don’t have the heart for that kind of direct fight) the US military should sue him for slander & fraud. If nothing is done their will be large numbers of citizens who know no better and who’s only news is the media that will take this guy as credible.
BTW JGA is actually the code they use for entry level performance and conduct. It can also be used for pregnancy but I have seen many people recieve this discharge code for failing a pt test or getting into a fight etc.
I am also to understand that this DD-214 has no weapons/rifle qualification identified.
I don't believe anyone could graduate basic or get any kind of promotion, let alone qualify for Ranger school or any other specialized select training course, without an up-to-date weapons qualification.

Sure, he's a liar, a fraud and a poseur and he ought to be punished for forging the DD Form 214, but you just sound like a nutcase when you throw around charges of sedition and treason.

Freedom of speech is to protect domestic political speech not give our enemies an inside track to propagandize our citizenry during an active war effort. This is not some guy saying the government sucks or this or that political crap, this guy did the exact first sentence of the Sedition Act. This has nothing to do with PC or not this guy is demoralizing the US citizenry, slandering the US military, and doing the enemy propaganda leg work for them. Whether Bin Laden personally paid or ordered his actions the result of his propaganda is the same as if Bin Laden had is it not? With today’s satellite communications whether you are in Pakistan or California the field of battle for information warfare is the same.
Good comparative example, this young Japanese Americans “dissent” of WW2? Is this type of behavior acceptable for a US citizen? At what point do you draw the line?

To just let things like this slide after time will be devastating. Every one of these incidents will result in another small portion believing such lies and the previous portions of the pop already tricked will have their lies confirmed. It’s a snowball.
This is fourth generation warfare there is no Midways, Bulges, ect.. there is thousands hell millions of minor skirmishes between armed soldiers, between cyops people on both sides and even in the homes between citizens beliefs for the home-front moral. The peace-love-&-happiness movement during Vietnam didn’t just spontaneously appear it was slowly built up over time right under the noses of millions who took your exact position Scooby. Every incident like this one should be attacked and prosecuted to the utmost as publicly as possible to make our view dominate for those battle to come were it may be more gray less defiant to disprove the enemy propaganda. Tomorrow when the enemy gets a incident to promote their view and give them advantage in future battles you can well believe it will be exploited to the utmost see: Abu Grahib. In War there is no place for niceties and polite cheek turning given in domestic issues there literally is lives at stake.
Now I understand with the current leadership available no one has the sack to enforce a Sedition Act but the military should be allowed at least the rights of corporation. All major corporations and public figures needing PR to survive and thrive don’t allow outright slander they prosecute or sue.
Reality is that this kid is a near-idiot in the classical sense of the term, likely handled by higher-ups.
We should be investigating the higher-ups.
And any charges of Sedition should rightfully start with some certain members of the present US Congress.
Hell, Kerry should have been put before the Courts Martial for being a US Military Officer who claimed to have seen and participated in war crimes yet did not follow the code of conduct nor show the honor required to report same immediately. Um-hum.
But this kid doesn't have the wherewithal to be evil, he is just plain stupid.

Just a note on MOS. It would have been printed as 11B, not bravo and would have had a skill level identifier so as an E1 through E4 it would have read "11B10." But since he never finished Basic/AIT no MOS was awarded so nothing was printed until he himself apparently winged it by putting in 11 bravo...
