Please tell me that it is not so cold in Washington DC that the USAF marching in the inaugural parade have to wear ear muffs!
Apparently so; which is authorized by AFI 36-2903. The same AFI that authorizes us to utilize an umbrella when it's raining. Imagine that, using an umbrella in the rain. Misery does not have to love company.
So if it had been raining and cold they could have marched with umbrellas deployed and ear muffs.
Not only do they keep their ears warm, they hide their iPod/iPhone earbuds.
I once did a burial at Arlington in bleak midwinter. I wore a black lightly insulated car coat over a sweater. The AF chaplain assigned was very aggressive, insisted on reading his canned speech (he did not know the deceased), and looked ridiculous in his uniform hat and earmuffs and heavy long coat.
I was not in the least impressed with this dude.
Hey, don't forget your neck tattoos; those really look professional when your not wearing your authorized cold weather gear.
