The author also wrote “Six Frigates,” which I have extolled (ex-Toll-ed?) here before, I believe. I didn’t think Ian Toll could top 6F, but I think he might have done it. Go forth and read.

I liked this, too. I've long been a big fan of Ronald Spector's Eagle Against the Sun, but this filled in more on the Japanese side, which helped me understand how complex their operational art was. Fascinating book. Thanks for recommending this.
