Try the marksmanship and gunhandling challenge with your bolt gun, over iron sights. Even if you only have a 100 yard range; use a smaller target and see how well you do.

Be neat for someone to organize something similar to this in the NoVA area. Perhaps Quantico Shooting Club? Another range in the area?
Yes it would! John R. Murphy has resisted bolt-action rifle courses, but maybe I should ask him…
And you know, the K31 would be a great choice for it.
I spoke to a guy in 2002 who was using a K31 action for a match gun. He said he couldn't get quite the performance he expected. I think I would look to an Enfield
Interesting– because clearly the Swiss expected that kind of performance.
I would agree, based on how it works, but haven't played with it enough to confirm. It definitely smoother than the M95 Steyr straight pulls. I have at least 1 K31 and then 2 of the Schmidt Rubin long guns.
the SMLE had a benefit in how the bolt opened and the firing pin cocked which made it a bit faster to cycle. I will have to head to the range and give it a go with the K31 and the SMLE to see which works better. I am not sure I would try with the 1903 or the Mauser.
It would be fun to try this with my G96 Swedish Mauser – only because it's such a pleasure to shoot, not because I am anywhere near competent enough to drill 25 round in a 2'x2 target at 300 yards.
That would be some superb shooting. I have an old beat-up No 4 Mk 1 that is actually a super-sweet shooter. When our 100-yd range opens back up, I will try it with an 8" circle.
I will also try it with an equally beat-up but very accurate Pattern 14 I have, and with a Mauser, and a 1903 Springfield. Those, with just 5 round capacities, will be nearly impossible.
To those who can do it, I will send a hearty "I say! Good show!"
