Random gun stuff…
- The esteemed John Murphy of FPF Training has posted his 2012 calendar. Right now there is a discrepancy in the listing for the first Minuteman Rifle Course. I contacted him and he said the proper dates are “31 March – 1 April,” and that he’ll correct it shortly.
- Lots of good commentary posted lately at Farnam’s Quips, including two cautionary tales (this and the bottom third of this). The top third of the latter is good info, especially for the novice.
- You know what I haven’t seen much of lately, on Gunbroker.com? Golden Tiger 7.62×39. It used to be everywhere, from several vendors, in various quantities. I saw only one the other day, ironically from a seller in my zip code.

Uh, Colonel, sir? Both of your Farnum links are to the same page…
Rusty Bill:
Thanks, good eye. Fixed it. Merry Christmas and thanks for being a loyal reader!

One of my regular daily reads, Colonel. And the eye comes from my first “real” job – maintaining parachutes, survival kits and other flight gear for crazy pilots and crewers (EC-130 Hercules). Of course, that was a long, long time ago…
Feliz navidad!

LTCOL P,
We can say our huzzahs, as it appears that MARSOC is diving heavy into the .45 ACP once again, in the form of a modified M1911A1 designated the M45. I heard they are looking to buy 4,000 of them.
I wonder whether the whole of the USMC may get in on the deal. One can only hope.
That is good news– let uis all hope!
BTW, Merry Christmas.

And to you, Sir.
Best to the family, as well.
“In order to gain the most/best effect, we need to shoot with surgical precision, striking vital organs, and do it multiple times, in rapid succession.”
Sage advice. I think I’m gonna go to the range on my day off now.
