Gun Season Opener…

Nothing seen or heard. Nothing. I didn’t get out in the morning, so for all I know it was hopping then. But in the afternoon, in Clarke County, Virginia, on the slope of the Blue Ridge, nothing was moving.

Still, it was good to be out.

On a more ominous note, I see that the not-so-Super Committee is lurching toward its expected deadlock. Congress, as a whole, has thoroughly abdicated its Constitutional duties, and the Senate especially. There are some members of Congress I respect; but for every one there are three that I abominate.

My club knocked down 16, including a beautiful 9 pointer, but all I saw was a “flag shot” as one hopped out in front of me, too quick / far for a shot; an ethical one anyway.

Ditto on Congress. Of course now there is talk of ammending the law that was passed to halt the automatic cuts, as one Congress cannot bind the hands of a future one. In essence it was all smoke an mirrors to raise the debt ceiling without cuts to spending, yet again.

Standard gimmick the Republicans fall for every time; grant the Dems this thing they want now for the promise of them working in good faith at a later date. Either they keep falling for it, or they’re complicit in it, I’m not sure which is worse honestly, since it means they’re either flippin’ morons or complete liars and thieves.
