After a two or three comparatively easy years, I think we’re in for an active hurricane season. (I speak of the east coast.) A powerful storm can carry itself well inland and far up the Atlantic seaboard, and cause considerable havoc. Since we are all pledged to be ready in every time of deepest peril, to borrow a phrase, we ought to re-acquaint ourselves with the proper preparations.
Remember, the goal is to be part of the solution, and none of the problem. If you get yourself ready, you’ll be in a better position to help your neighbors and your community. And given the fiscal restraints on every level of government, our dedication to what was once called civil defense is all the more necessary.
