If you’ve never been to Yellowstone National Park, you’re wrong. Just returned from a 4-day camping trip and I’m already thinking about going back. The park is massive –at 3500 square miles it’s bigger than Rhode Island– and teeming with wildlife, bubbling geysers, soaring peaks, and beautiful sun-kissed valleys. 5 minutes after crossing into the park’s eastern entrance (near Cody, Wyoming), we spotted a grizzly doing a little last minute foraging prior to winter. Was a good sign of better things to come.
Yellowstone is kind of like Disney Land, you’ve gotta do it at least once in your lifetime. I’d recommend you spend at least 3-4 days exploring the park, as it’s not the type of thing you can knock out in an afternoon. My friend and I hit 9 of the top 10 attractions, but it took a full three days and several camelbacks worth of water. When we were done — filthy, exhausted, and satisfied, we capped off the perfect trip with the perfect meal — rare buffalo prime ribs at Wyoming’s Rib & Chophouse in downtown Cody.
Either way — thanks to Col P, Townie, Richard S. Lowry, and Bullnav for keeping the place afloat while I was gone. We’ve got some big things coming down the pipe, so standby — and get your ass to Yellowstone while you wait!
