A very interesting and thought provoking article over at the Small War Journal. The author comments and more importantly the comments which have been submitted regarding the article reflect the wide variety of views on our role in Afghanistan. This is a healthy debate, as a debate such as this helps define the left and right limits of what is possible.

I edit three Websites for the Weider History Group, and this week we’ve been running a poll on ArmchairGeneral.com about whether or not readers agree with George Will’s assessment that troop strength in Afghanistan should be decreased, not increased. Currently, the opinions are running 57% against reducing troop strength, 31% in favor and 12% undecided. It might be interesting for other sites to run a similar poll to see what results they would get.
