Sure, It Looks Cool

But a proposed ChiCom zepplin-aircraft carrier could be the easiest thing to shoot down in the history of flying machines.

Dave Axe compares it to the hare-brained nuclear hand grenade of 1950s fame. Here’s hoping that the Chinese spend untold billions developing this warlock.

    What the F????

  2. Matt says:

Why don’t we send some of our defense contractors to help the Chinese with that project? That way, they will spend billions and billions and take decades to develop a system they will never produce and wouldn’t work as needed if it did.

  3. John says:

    ha! Matt wins.

  4. It seems to me that Cobra had two similar designs. The first was shot down and collided with U.S.S. Flagg, causing both to sink (though they were subsequently raised). The second was destroyed in the opening musical number of G.I. Joe The Movie by an explosive Cobra had intended to use on the Statue of Liberty.

Better off just using regular carriers, and having CBs build airfields on land when needed.

  5. Jack says:

I think you mean “hare brained”.

    I actually think Obi-wandreas wins.

It reminds me of of some of the flying

targets in Ace Combat video game series!

And,I bet an EMP blast would cause havoc

    with this monstrosity!haha.

Looks like something Lockheed Martin or Northrup Grumman would propose!

  9. DaveO says:

Didn’t Angelina Jolie command one of these in the movie “Sky Captain?”

Huh. I guess I finally found out who (Or Hu) stole my doodle-laden high-school pre-calculus notebook.

Then again, no sign of a ventral seawater scoop for the nuclear-powered chlor-alkali units electrolyzing fuel for the point-defense lasers. I guess they only got the early model.

For some reason I never did too well in that class.

  11. Jason B says:

We really need one just so we can call it the SHIELD Helicarrier, like in Marvel Comics.

However, this would be feasible to some extent if it wasn’t zeppelin based and we could develop Missile Shield into a more localized point defense system. (Or just leave that to any supporting vessels like the Navy does).
