   To be honest gents; with the level of self-entitlement and lack of common sense that seems to be an epidemic amongst our young troopers out there, this email does not surprise me. I am almost confident that this young airman passed his mission qualification board in the Air Force, and while he should have been stopped at the door and told to go away until his “reasoning and judgement” skills had improved; it would be easier just to pass him and make it go away. While the email from the Asst Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff wrote a very politically correct email back, which was prudent, I hold out hope that it was followed up with an international “WTF” phone call and some wall-to-wall counseling.

   You’re dead on OB — we’re part of what I call “generation me.” I grew up with all the advantages in the world, with technology fostering instant gratification almost as a right instead of a privilege. It’s seeped into the military, I fear.

   btw – Gran Torino, great depiction of the cultural rift between the greatest generation and their grandchildren.
