Memorial Day 2009

We at Op-For hope that this Memorial Day finds you all well, and well-disposed. I have never liked applying "happy" to this day, as in "Happy New Year!" or "Happy 4th!" I don't think it's appropriate. So, in lieu of inappropriate salutations, however innocently generated, let us state again that we wish you all well this weekend.
We most wish well to those who went out to do battle for us, and did not return. Remember them always, especially this day.
MMM and B5 have good tributes.
America's lost sons and daughters are too numerous to name here, but since this is a VMI blog as well, I think we should close with the Institute's fallen of this War:

Happy?
Yeah, I agree with you. Happy is not the proper term. But Memorial Day always makes me think of the Patton quote:
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."
Of course he's right...
It's a day to be thankful for all the freedoms we enjoy because of those willing to raise their hands and swear "to support and defend".
