Just a quick synopsis: Eric Cartman travels to Somalia to “live the Pirate life,” and somehow manages to recruit an entire gang of Somali pirates. This clip caps off the episode.

U know, its true. Half of the guys on these military blogs think that its easy to solve the piracy. Simply by killing all the pirates.

But the pirates they no bloodthirsty thugs, who make big money. They are just a bunch of hungry, malnourished suckers who want to survive another day. Sure, there isnt nothing bad when U defend Urself when they attack you but isnt it better to do something with somalia that these guys dont have to pirate anymore? These navy manuveurs to get the pirate under control are goddamn expensive, better to use them to make somalia not so fucked-up shithole. So let me get this straight, the somali pirates are siezing ships, killing people, and demanding (and getting) enormous ransoms, and your plan for dealing with them is to feel sorry for them and try to understand their socio-economic situation?
A quick word for you, when you go to warm up the car in the garage, and you sit there while it warms up, make sure the garage door is open. Carbon Monoxide kills brain cells.

Replace pirates with muggers and you have repeated the common excuse that it is not criminal’s fault, it is just that they are poor and uneducated and to solve the crime problem we need to educate the criminals and give them money.
While I agree that education is a good, and helping the poor learn skills (‘to fish’) is a good, there will always be those who choose to do evil. Rewarding those ahead of time only makes for educated, empowered, criminals/pirates.
I am not a “kill them all, let god sort them out” type, but your ‘solution’ is unreasonable. Wisdom is needed. If we have intelligence on pirates, I’m all for preemptive strikes. I also think any rules leaving crew unarmed are ridiculous.
Defense cost something, but freedom is worth “millions for defense, not one penny for tribute”. This is true at the personal level and the national level. You seem to be willing to fight back, but don’t seem to value the resources required to fight back.
Defense first, then help some. But recognize that we can’t do the latter without the former. Further, there will always be poor. I don’t believe that it is required that we help everyone to the point where all own exactly the same amount.

- I DO understand their social-economic situation, thats the problem. They have nothing else to do, no options left, either they die of hunger or they become pirates. Its same in Iraq or Afghan. Either you try to give these guys a job or you wait until the problem culminates. Sure, there are some guys, who make it out of belief or BIG money-makers but there is only few of them and these professional pirates have it real easy to recruit new people cause most people do it just to survive. Its same everywhere. U wanna stop insurgency (at least part of it)? give those guys who make money by making IED an alternative, some other job to make living. U want afghan farmers to stop making opium? No problem, give em alternative. U want to stop piracy? Give pirates a job (sure, this aint gonna stop all of em and thats the time where trigger-pullers come into it and their help is going to be most welcome).

- No its not great deterrent. Thats the point. These guys are hungry. Ok, some of em will die, no question bout that. But that aint gonna change that. U would have to kill some 90% of em so they wouldnt ever come out. And the very moment U draw military power back, they come back, cause they STILL hungry! We try to heal the consequnces of problem, not the problem itself. Its like taking a expensive head medicine because U ve got headache. Sure it helps but it aint gonna help for long. Its gonna be back. Better cure the cause of headache and U never have to take the medicine again.

- Not true. In every society, there is bout 10% of social-pathological individuals. But piracy is much more widespreaded than this. People, who dont wanna be pirates, but have no other choice how to make living. Mugger from developed country have other possibilities.
- I am not defending professional pirates, those who choose to be evil, no question bout that, but piracy is much more widespreaded. The vast majority of guys who do it, is doing it just because they try to make living.
- I am not saying that we should help everybody or even educate anyone. I say we should take the military and establish the government. Than we can try to make Somalia a better place. If we kill a few pirates, that aint gonna help nothing. These pirates have far strongest motive possible to pirate, they want to survive and this is one of the only means how to do it. If u dont change that they gonna come back again and again and u cant let the military stay there all the time.

There’s always the possibility that they could focus their energies towards making their country a better place instead of attacking international shipping.
Why is it always our job to ensure that everyone’s lives don’t suck. Our ancestors came from all over the world and made a great thing here. Why can the Somali’s not make something of their country? Perhaps they don’t want to?
Also,
as we learned last time, just taking the military in and taking the place over is not going to work unless you’re prepared to kill thousands upon thousands of people. Some how I don’t see the libtards that are in charge of our government now selecting that option.

We are trying to help rebuild Somalia. United Nations ships bring millions of dollars worth of food into Somalia on a regular basis, or at least they would if they weren’t being captured and killed by the pirates they’re trying to help. These pirates go home to houses that would make most Americans jealous, and use electricity from their own private generators while their neighbors die from starvation or dysentery in dark homes with no water or electricity. They’re not altruistic, they’re not freedom fighters, they’re murderous criminals. Period.
