Thanks to loyal reader, close friend, co-worker and fellow Marine, MDL, I hear of the GI Film Festival coming to DC.
The schedule is PACKED with all sorts of good stuff, including Taking Chance.
We ought to organize something. I’ll dial up UJ at B5 and see what’s what. Can’t promise, but we’ll certainly give it a shot.
(Speaking of B5, on the subject of torture, Mr Wolf has an excellent post.)
Colonel P,
My name is Mark and I’m the writer / director of a film entitled “SEAL Team VI” which is slated to screen in the GI Film Festival in DC May 16th. It’s a film that I’m extremely proud to have been a part of and I’m equally honored to be part of such an amazing film festival dedicated to the sheer sacrifice of the American Soldier throughout history.
It’s not often when a film-maker gets this kind of opportunity to work with the US military and I hope it does you proud.
I do have some confirmed SEAL Team attendees, but unfortunately my operator contacts are currently deployed and can’t attend. I would however like to personally invite you and your readers to attend.
All the very best

Col. Charles O’Sullivan, WWII fighter ace and hero of Injury Slight…Please Advise, will attend the screening of the film that tells his story at 9:30 AM on Saturday, May 16. O’Sullivan was shot down in the jungles of New Guinea in 1943 and survived alone for a month before being rescued. He encountered a tribe of headhunters that tried to kill him, fighting his way out of their village and evading them as they hunted him through the jungle. Please join us for the rare chance to meet this WWII hero, and enjoy a great lineup of films at the festival!
Hope to see you there!!

Col P,
I was the historical consultant to ‘Perfect Valor.’ Many of the stories in the film are pulled directly from the pages of my next book – New Dawn. Here is just one of the stories: http://op-for.com/2008/03/recording_history_part_xiii_ja.html
Col P,
I will be attending the festival this year and I hope that many of our readers will reach out to all the film makers to help them promote their films. This is the only film festival that attempts to promote film that honor our military men and women.
Semper Fidelis
Mark, I’m very excited to see your movie “Seal Team VI.”
I’m also very excited to attend the red carpet premiere of “Perfect Valor.”
I’ll be in attendance with the Associate Producer and Military advisor of the film we did entitled “Everyman’s War.” Unfortunately we got a bad time slot at 9AM during the filmaker panel. I hope you can all make it to see our film anyway.
Sincerely,
Cole Carson
Actor “Everyman’s War”
