Incredible... I have asked the American Forces Network to see if we can get HBO to let us show this overseas.

you don't get HBO overseas? Obviously you're not stationed at an Air Force base!

John   ·  January 7, 2009 08:08 PM

Yes, this would be great to get on the American Forces Network! Only a select few get HBO overseas. Some theaters only show HBO Asia or whatever the local HBO is, which doesn't sync up with the HBO in the United States.

Gregg Orto   ·  January 7, 2009 08:54 PM

Here's what I got from the AFN Broadcast Center ...

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the heads up. We're aware of the film and have started the process of request rights.

John,
Email me at michael.lawhorn@us.army.mil when you get the chance.

Did you get the heads up about the John Doe Letters? www.kosovodad.blogspot.com

This brings back a lot of memories. I used to fly those Northwest DC-9's and brought back more than a few KIA to their homes all over the midwest. I was an ALO and F-4 EWO and E-3 Pilot. For what it is worth, active military never paid for a drink on my plane and were afforded the chance to deplane first. More often than not there was spontanious applause when they did.

Ken   ·  January 8, 2009 05:24 PM

Wow. Is it just me, or did the video get a bit blurry a couple of times there? Powerful stuff.

Damian   ·  January 9, 2009 07:26 AM

That's just your allergies Damian...mine kicked in watching this too.

Kudos to Kevin Bacon for taking that role.

Can't wait to see it. My eyes started to sweat watching the trailer.

Birney Summers   ·  January 11, 2009 05:10 PM

Is it only being shown on HBO??

Anonymous   ·  January 12, 2009 11:47 AM

oh how sad-I do not get HBO, but may buy the DVD if they make one

TH
hank you Ken.
When I returned home in March 2006, The pilot did the same for us. We were able to deplane first and everyone applauded as well. I never felt so proud to serve our great country. Now I'm part of the U.S. Navy funeral Honors here in Phoenix, Az. When I saw the trailer for the film I broke down in uncontrollable tears.
May they never be forgotten.

I went to the website and tagged the share button and it is now posted on my Facebook page. I have encouraged my friends to share it on their pages also.
I was on a flight to Boston to see my family when we were all kept on board when a serviceman was removed from the plane. It was a phenomenal tribute. As someone with good friends in the military, I want you all to know we at home appreciate your efforts abroad.

AWESOME! HBO you got it right. What a powerful & moving film. Every American should see this. The price these men & women pay for our country, I am forever grateful from a sister of 4 brothers who served proudly.

Shirley   ·  February 22, 2009 07:13 AM

Incredibly moving and powerful movie.

My family sat in silence the entire time it was showing.

My allergies acted up too, no, I cried.

God bless all of the people in our military service.

Ron   ·  February 27, 2009 10:19 AM

A wonderful profoundly moving must see film for every American. Thank you Lt. Col Strobl and HBO for bringing us this story. And thank you to all our military men and women and their families for their service.

Anita   ·  March 2, 2009 06:34 AM

I was crying almost as soon as the trailer began. I don't have any television at all. Is there a way the whole film can be watched online?

Jay   ·  March 7, 2009 09:13 AM

I was deeply moved. Thank you for your service Chance. And thank you LT. You two will be in my prayers. Thank you LT for taking the time to share. God bless all who serve, Smitty
