The Christmas Take, 2008

By Lt Col P

The highlights from my Yuletide haul:

* 500 rounds of 7.62x39 (you can never have enough)

* Several magazines (and I don't mind this kind)

* Talvisota (very good, but THANK GOD FOR SUBTITLES)

* Killer Elite (very interesting, will withhold final review)

* East of the Sun and West of the Moon (TR's sons on the hunt in Central Asia)

* The Closed Circle

On the minus side, our tree fell over and we lost two favorite ornaments, including a DU Santa-riding-a-mallard, and the truly priceless Wile E. Coyote floating under balloons and about to drop an anvil on someone. And the tree itself didn't last long. However, if that's the extent of our misfortunes, we're pretty fookin' lucky.

Altogether a good Christmas. And yours?

AIMSurplus has 1120 rd cases of Yugo 7.62 on SKS strippers for 256 bucks. It's corrosive primers, but if you're cleaning right after the range visit you should be fine.

They seem to be the only folks with 7.62 for less than .35/rd

Merry Xmas all and Happy New Year!!
Our tree, a fraiser shipped from the Carolinas, had bugs (aphids) so i took it out the house.

Also, my in-laws gave the rotavirus to my wife and 4 month old son.

On the brighter side, its been over one month since i got my pacemaker and I am back running again - dont worry i'll be back at the Sgt Nutter run. Also, no more pushups or crossfit ever again.

I just finished reading Kill Bin Laden and thought it was a very good personal account - and it also frustrated me again that we were very close.

I'm onto Baghdad Sunrise and enjoying Warriors on the Miltary History channel as well as reading one of
Warren Carroll's books while on vacation.
