C Minus 10

By Lt Col P

Ten days til Christmas. Still shopping?

AIMSurplus has Mosin-Nagants for 70 bucks. And you can still get a Swiss K-31 for a couple hundred bucks from various sources.

Ammo and magazines are always appreciated, the latter being great stocking stuffers. For the 1911-carrying gent, may I suggest Chip McCormick 8-round PowerMags?

Here's a book idea for the mil-history fan: World War I: The African Front. I'm knee-deep in it, and am fascinated by it. Previously, my only knowledge of WW1 in Africa came from Byron Farwell's very enjoyable book; Paice's book is much, much more detailed and focuses more or less on East Africa. While the Western Front in Europe was deadlocked in trench warfare, a dynamic war of maneuver was being fought in what is now Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Mozambique. The war there saw the first use of "aeroplanes" to spot for naval guns, and a zeppelin for resupply. And the world met the greatest military genius you've never heard of: Colonel Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck.

Any other ideas?

I could use some Ruger factory mags for my new Mini-14/NRA...

Good luck actually getting one by Christmas. They've been backlogged since 4 Nov.

I still say Field Marshal Erich von Mannstein is the greatest military genius nobody's ever heard of...well, not many at least.

I'm trying to get my 6.8 Scout rifle project underway, so if anybody has a spare Remington action that Santa could pick up on Xmas night and swing by my bench, let me know...

Homer2 - I ordered 2 for my father-in-law on 4 DEC and had them a week later. Not sure how I got lucky...

Wow $70 bucks... holy shit! I'm definitely gonna buy a couple of Mosin-Nagants.

Some time ago, I did need to buy a good car for my corporation but I didn't have enough money and could not buy something. Thank heaven my father proposed to try to get the credit loans at banks. Thus, I acted so and used to be satisfied with my financial loan.
