Gun-Day Monday (?)
By Lt Col P
OK, it's not a Monday but it feels like one. Let's talk GUNS.
First, an FFL bleg. Any FFL holders in Northern VA? If so, drop me a line, I have a specific question for you.
Second, anyone tried to buy bulk ammo lately? WTF, OVER?? Thought I'd found a good deal at Cabelas on Wolf 7.62x39 122gr FMJ, until I went to check out. "OUT OF STOCK." Same-same on various generic .30-Carbine and .45 ACP. I don't even want to look at the 5.56/.223. AimSurplus is apologizing profusely for not being able to fill orders. GunBroker.com seems to have good selection and prices, though.
Third, National Ammo Day is 19 Nov. BUY WHAT YOU CAN, WHERE YOU CAN.
Fourth, anyone bought an eeeeevil black rifle lately? All sources say that sales are through the roof. Glad I got mine, but I'm sweating the load on ammo and magazines. Even the humble USGI 15-round M1 Carbine magazine is hard to come by.
Finally, looks like the gun show is coming back to the Dulles Expo Center here in NoVa on 21-23 Nov. Ammo and magazines, baby. Ammo and magazines. Hey, I'm just trying to stay well-regulated...
Quick Update by way of Chairman Kim: Gun Sales Up 10 Billion Percent.

There is an undercurrent of anti-ammuntion efforts along side all the overt anti-gun efforts. Meaning that we may be winning the war on our right to keep and bear arms, but not on our right to have ammunition for those arms.
WASR-10 AK-47 (Romanian) and 800 rounds of Wolf 7.62 (at $25 per 100)
I do love Gun Day Mondays -- I was just thinking that I just dedicate more blog time to the 2nd Amendment and greater weaponology.
Buying guns and ammo now is like buying stocks at an all time high. Over the last five years I have added the weapons that I need to the ones I already have. I added two 45 ACP semi autos, a mini 14, and a tactical shotgun in 12 ga for the house. One of the things you will need is ammo. It is good to buy by 1m rounds at a time. But I find that reloading makes things easier through the bumpy times. You put money in on the front end, but if you have a commitment to quality and willing to learn the necessary skills, it is a good way to go. I like Dillon 550 turret reloaders.
Make a plan for your weapons systems and their feed. Assess the threat and get the appropriate systems to meet the threat.
You might try "10-8" on that little stretch of Fairfax County Parkway between Route 1 and 95. It's been a while since I've been in there, so I don't know what their stock is like right now.
@ Alaska Paul,
What you say makes tons of sense, but for those of us that were 100% unarmed on Nov 4th, what choice do we have?
I also don't think that prices have peaked just yet-wait until mid January...
Interestingly enough, up here in the Second Amendment bastion state of Michigan (no, I am not shitting you: in spite of the primarily dem leaning of the state, we have some liberal firearms laws) there does not seem to be a run on AR/AK variants. One of the local sporting goods chain stores up here is Dunham's and the 2 or 3 stores I was in this week each had several of the WASRs and also several AR clones. Most likely, due to the fact that our economy is in the dumper and has been for the last 5 years, folks just don't have the money to spend.
I live in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. While I have not been shopping myself, all reports I have heard is the EBRs are selling like hotcakes. The same for military cal. ammo.
I got my AR-15 in 1987. Still have it. I try to keep a good supply of ammo on hand. The time to get the things you need/want is when it is clam. Don't wait for a panic.
I just picked up an AR lower on gunbroker. There isn't a stripped lower to be found in all of the Southern Tier of New York. Ordering directly from Bushmaster is supposed to take 4-6 months and all of the distributors I spoke with said there were none to be had.

Everything's out apparently everywhere in NOVA. I saw a pic of VA Arms and they had one AR, one PS90, and like two AKs left.
Give it a month and I think we'll go back to "normal". Hopefully Magpul will make a crap load of P-mags or something.
