Barry McCaffrey’s Afghanistan Assessment

By Townie 76

Forwarded to me my a good friend in Savannah, the attached file is General Barry McCaffrey's report on Afghanistan. Interesting read, and disheartening. I have highlighted the document, as it focuses my interest.

Anyone notice how GEN McCaffrey tends to go to war zones, issue pessimistic reports... and things start improving?

Sure happened that way in Iraq, hopefully it will here too.

Barry McCaffrey lost his way when he went to Washington. He was South Com CC 1994-1996. He knew that the entire Mexican government was participating in drug transshipment to US citizens. In 1997 (as the "Drug Czar) he does what Clinton and Albright need done so our tax money can continue to prop up the peso so Robert Rubin's friends won't loose their shirts. What did McCaffrey do? He recommended "certification" that Mexico was a partner in fighting drugs. This is all political stuff, which, is what he is now.......a cheap political operative. But to the agents fighting the war, he sold us down the river so he could rise in politics. I don't know how he sleeps at night.
