Bookshelf Part 2
By Charlie
Caught some e-mail flak for the first pic of my books. Here's the complete shelf, below the fold.
The important part: any recommendations from the audience?

Seven Pillars of Wisdom or Revolt in the Desert by T.E. Lawrence?
glad to see that the "Art of War" that I gave you as a grad present is featured prominently.
...
sucka
Can't tell if you have it but "The Siege of Mecca" by Yaroslav Trofimov, about the seizure and retaking of the Grand Mosque in Mecca(1979), was interesting.
On The Origins Of War by Donald Kagan
Man o man you need to buy some other books. That reading list will stunt your intellectual and emotional growth.
a) Peace to end all peace.
b) Rise and Fall of the British Empire-(forget who the author is...).
c) Path between the Seas
d) Hemingway, Herman Wouk, and Shakespere would server you a hell of lot better than the Army Guide.
e) And please, round it out with some Sarte and Camus..........
"Conservative and stupid is no way to go through life son........."
Oh I forgot-VMI guys don't get a liberal arts education. Only at a real military college do you have to study Major British Writers. ( The foundation of any officers education IMHO...).
All good suggestions above but how about "Marines in the Garden of Eden?"

Man, I have got to get my reading list from 2007 done...
I finished Richard's book, and started Skippy's suggestion #1...
Forgive me if I missed it, but I think "Once a Warrior King" would be appropriate on many different levels to be not only included but read and understood.
(Good one, Barney! That's an overlooked gem. And entirely appropriate for young Charles.)
Add "Basic Economics" by Thomas Sowell, "Bugles And A Tiger" by Masters, "Death Comes For The Archbishop" by Willa Cather, "Kim" by Kipling, "The Great Game" by Peter Hopkirk, "Quartered Safe Out Here" by GM Fraser, "Fire In The Night" by Smith and Bierman (?), and *all* of the Flashman books, also by GM Fraser.
More to follow, upon request.
Two of my favorites:
- 100 Decisive Battles (by Paul K Davis)
- Cryptonomicon (by Neil Stephenson)
What?? No WEB Griffin??
