To The United States Government, To CMATT/MNSTC-I Headquarters, To the Coalition Force Commander in Iraq

Behalf of all the Officers and the Soldiers in the Besmaya Range Complax

My self COL ABBAS FADHIL ABDUL-SAHIB, The Commander of the Besmaya Range Complex, I present my greatest regrets and sadness for the wild fires accrued [occurred] in San Diego City in the United States Of America. We feel that we are connected with the American people in many connections and we will not forget the big assistance that the American Government gave to the Iraqi People. We will not forget the liberation from Saddam's Regime, we feel that we live together one body either with you or with the American people. I'm honored to participate by sending you a simple fund of (1,000$) to the American people in San Diego City to lowering their suffering from the wild fire. That's for the feeling of being brothers and friends and for the great connections together.

Colonels Abbas and Werner

It is 1430, on October 31, 2007, here in Florida. I just received this email from Colonel Darel Maxfield:

Sir-

LTC Werner and I just had a meeting with Col Abbas in our office. After business was concluded, I asked he and his executive officer, Major Jaffa, to remain for a private meeting where we showed him the many responses we’ve received from your readers and bloggers. He was VERY grateful. As always, he spoke of his genuine commitment to making the future a good one with Iraq and the US together, “as one people” working “together as brothers.” Please give your readers his VERY GENUINE thanks for their support and encouragement. He has a copy of all the notes you have sent to me. As a note, I got a bear hug and a man kiss on both cheeks from both Abbas and his XO, Jaffa, for your readers generosity of thought! That’s a pretty good day in these parts!

Genuine Regards.

Darel Maxfield
COL Besmaya Range Complex

Please continue to leave messages of gratitude in the comments below and I will forward them to Colonel Abbas.

I left comment yesterday but maybe it did not go through. I am from a military family; my father is a retired USN Reservist-Captain who served in WWII and Korea. My younger brother was born in San Diego. My family greatly appreciates this thoughtfulness and kindness from the Iraqi soldiers. We honor our own soldiers who serve; we believe the people of Iraq are worthy of our joint effort on their behalf, and we hope Col. Abbas will relay to his men our profound gratitude and hope that one day this nation and the nation of Iraq will show the world how grateful we are for you, the soldiers of Iraq and the soldiers of the United States and Britain, working together. P. S. Ignore the media.

Carroll Hoke   ·  October 31, 2007 06:20 AM

Col ABBAS FADHIL ABDUL-SAHIB - Thank you to you and your soldiers. This act of kindness on your behalf and the behalf of your soldiers and their families goes such a long way in backing up the many accounts I hear from American soldiers of the bonds they have built with their brothers in the Iraqi Army. And your generosity and kindhearted donation only furthers that bond with the people of America. Please know that we civilians here in America do know of the hard work, effort and sacrifice you and your soldiers are doing, standing side-by-side with our American soldiers to help bring a better future to Iraq. Thank you again and I hope one day the Iraqi Army and the people of Iraq will truly know how much the American people support you in improving your country. And I agree with Carroll Hoke, please ignore the media accounts from America - they speak only for the media members' political bias, not for the majority of the American people.

Col ABBAS FADHIL ABDUL-SAHIB -

Your kindness reflected by the very sizable donation you and your fellow soldiers made to those who lost everything in the recent fires in California, USA; is a reflection of the unity we share when there is a great need.
Millions of Americans continue to stand with you, and the unity of your country for a better life, a better tomorrow.
Do not take to heart what you see and read in our Main Stream Press accounts here, for they are liberal biased. Our prayers remain with you and yours now, and in the coming struggles ahead. You are winning. WE are winning. Together, we will one day rejoice in the prosperity of your country.

God's Blessings ... Always

Col ABBAS FADHIL ABDUL-SAHIB:

Thank You and your men for your contribution to the people in California suffering from the recent wildfires. It touches my heart that your and your men, while still fighting for your people, can find the time and resources to help other people in need.

I am proud of the accomplishments of your people as you rebuild your nation.

I am so grateful that you are sharing this story with all of us.

I have forwarded it to my Marine friend who was in Iraq when his home burned to the ground.

Col ABBAS FADHIL ABDUL-SAHIB:

I cannot thank you enough for the generosity, thoughtfulness, and sacrifice of you and your soldiers for your conributions to the California wildfire victims. While my family and I are not affected by the wildfires, your generous act has reminded me yet again why we are behind you in your fight to rebuild your country. One year ago yesterday my husband returned from a 12 month military deployment to Iraq. He was a witness to the challenges you are facing, and we both hope that the US government will continue to assist you in any way needed. We believe in Iraq, and pray for safety, peace, and prosperity for its citizens.

Dear Colonel Abbas-

Thank you for your generosity and kindness to the American people Sir. We need more men like you in the Iraqi Army and the Iraqi government- men who stand for what is right and the betterment of your entire nation. We have worked together these many years and our objective of a free and united Iraq is within reach. We must continue our struggle until the day of final peace is reached- and Iraqis of all types can live together as one family.

LT J Fishman   ·  October 31, 2007 11:51 AM

As a San Diegian who was evacuated during the fires, and the sister of Andrew "Drew" Herbert, I was extremely touched to read about the monetary donation made by the Iraqi soldiers following the horrible fires here. Thank you very much.

Dear Col Abbas
From the ashes on 9/11/2001 rose hope for a future secure in freedom's peace and prosperity. I thank you and all Iraqi soldiers for sharing in the hope Liberty brings; together we will not falter, we will not fail. Sending hugs and prayers from NYC.
