Pain Train Coming?

Newsweek: "We are going to get hit again" -

Aug. 27, 2007 - Al Qaeda has an active plot to hit the West. The United States knows about it but doesn’t have enough tactical detail to issue a precise warning or raise the threat level, says Vice Admiral (ret.) John Scott Redd, who heads the government’s National Counterterrorism Center. In an interview at his headquarters near Washington, D.C., Redd told Newsweek’s Mark Hosenball and Jeffrey Bartholet that the country is better prepared than ever to counter such threats. But he also believes another successful terror attack on the U.S. homeland is inevitable.

Well, tis the season....

Everybody pretty much realizes it's a matter of time.

While I'm sure there have been some actions interdicted that we'll never know about, the main reason we've never been hit again since 9/11 is because THEY DIDN'T WANT TO. Yet, anyway...

But, the time is coming soon.

What do you mean, they didn't want to? Of course they want to.

I qualified the remark with "yet".

You can't look at this as millions of Muslim hordes salivating to wade onto our shores and kill the infidels. And you can't assume that they're looking to turn America into an Israel with daily suicide bomb attacks on crowded buses.

Think about it. Do you really think another attack hasn't happened because of the DHS? I mean, one look at our southern border should answer that question for you.

And the DoD hasn't "tied them down" in Iraq and Afghanistan either. It's not like the Ardennes offensive where you can "tie down" a division. All it takes to execute a good terrorist attack is a few, well-motivated men. I think the enemy can spare those from the battlefield.

I believe AQ has a much better gauge on us than we do them. They know American politics and will. A strong attack will have a galvanizing effect on the American population (I believe they didn't fully anticipate the response they got after 9-11... but they've adjusted). However, make your attacks too frequent and Americans simply get used to them. Make them too rare and Americans ignore them.

They know they have to get it "just right". And, I believe that time is coming soon.

AQ doesn't want us out of Iraq. They want us in it. So do China, Iran, and Russia. They want to bleed us there slowly.

That's not an argument for withdrawal. We have to make it work there (somehow). However, it serves no purpose for AQ for us to simply pick up and go home. Aside from a moral victory, it would give us a chance to rest and repair. With money and resources being tied up overseas, it makes it easier for them to attack us here.

There are two ways that this could pan out: a few small attacks (i.e. London/Spain), or a large 9/11 attack.

There have been numerous foiled attempts since 9-11 by many smaller cells thanks to the FBI, and DHS. Was it because we were lucky, or vigilance? I think a generous combination of both.
And, you can also find many stories scattered throughout the country of Arab or Muslim men acting strangely (i.e. photographing skyscrapers) or making odd purchases (buying hundreds of disposable cell phones with cash).

For the large 9/11 type attack, what you can count on is this:

1 they are very patient and observant of their target
2 they will wait to strike when the alert level is down and they are sure of success
3 their targets are picked to cause mass casualties and economic impact
4 the attack will be in a way that will be unmistakable as to who did it
5 the attack and aftermath will be done in such a way that the horror can be carried on live tv

If you have to stop and ask yourself was that “the big one”, then it wasn’t. You’ll know just as you did when you saw the 2nd plane hit the World Trade Center.

The fact that many of the agencies are saying that “the chatter” has picked up should give some indication that they are probably in the advance stages of planning and have only be reconnoitering since 9-11 awaiting the final “go” order.

Something else to watch out for is what’s happening elsewhere (Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, etc.) when it happens. If and when the next big one does hit, will it be timed to coincide with major events elsewhere possible in hopes to “overload the radars”?

Enquiring minds want to know…

Carry.

Always.

Don't be a bystander...

A nod Bull Sir,
Because of the type of hospital uniform I now
wear, bulge....none, and no-one knows the better. Hospitals are the ultimate soft targets and I have already had the unfortunate experience of observing a "casing"
with no help from local when reporting it. So it is that I do what I do. I will not be a victim.
