Evening Quote

By John

Since I'm a bit grumpy with socialists as of late....

How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

-Ronald Reagan

chuckle.

I do miss Reagan's sense of humor and charm. Fred 08 anyone?

Gil Roy   ·  July 20, 2007 05:50 PM

He had a great sense of humor didn't he??

While Reagan, I believe, was a good, solid President, let's not forget his brush with troop deployment in the middle east and the complete DISASTER that our operation in Beirut, Lebanon was.

Not entirely dissimilar from our current experience, it was micromanaged from the top, with unrealistic ROE's placed on our troops, and demonstrated the administration's complete lack of understanding of the ground situation. And, naturally, our military responses were blunt, overwhelming, and usually ineffective.

Again, not to take away from Reagan's accomplishments (and he definitely had them). However, I fear some people place the man on some sort of pedastal just to the left and a little behind of God Almighty.

15 Sept?? Isn't that Inchon Day? How dare they sully that date with their filthy machinations.

LtCol P   ·  July 21, 2007 05:38 AM

Dude, we were just talking about his sense of humor. No God-like qualities mentioned......

Joel I don't know if you were there for the Brower years....you probably came in as the Farrell era was kicking off. But General Brower carried the football for Reagan, had a phenomenal slideshow that he showed his classes, official white house photographs and all that.

Brower definitely elevated the man. But y'know, Brower is a pretty good dude, and he seemed to think the same of old Ronnie.

Not that means anything about policy, just sayin' is all.

Hey, in my book, ANY man who sits in that office for four years has stock in my book (Clinton included). It has to be, without a doubt, THE pressure-cooker of the world.

I sure as hell wouldn't want it.

Joel,

For once we agree on something...I wouldn't much care for the job either....
