Because They Stand on a Wall....

By John

...and say "nothing's going to hurt you tonight. Not on my watch."

Yeah, that's pretty much what we're doing over there.

There's frustration and then there's hair-yanking frustation. The latter is what my mood ring flashes when I hear anti-war activists scream "Peace Now! US Out of Iraq!"

Peace for who? Not the Iraqi people, that's for sure. Peace activists don't really want peace. They want peace of mind. The US pulls out of Iraq and the whole thing becomes an Iraqi problem. C'mon, you don't really think MoveOn and International Answer would organize mass rallies against Al Qaeda and Iran if we pulled out, right?

Great picture. We can be proud of the fine servicemen we have sent into harm's way.

Heh, I'd hide behind a Marine, too.

Did you read the comments on the original web site? Some jive turkey was claiming that it was posed, and that that is "obviously" not a US Serviceman.
The guys who correctlty ID'd a US soldier wearing ACUs and the new brown boots, and carrying an M4 carbine, got slammed for "attacking a man for criticizing the Iraq War."

Well that's one way to look at it.

The other is that the United States has to look out for the interests of the United States first, not those of a bunch of worthless Arabs who will not help themselves.

Iraq is a basket case mainly because the Iraqis will not put the conflicts their worthless religion causes behind them. You are correct that it becomes an Iraqi problem if we leave. Which is exactly whose problem it should be.......it should have ceased being an American problem long ago.

From the American point of view continued presence in Iraq buys us nothing. Amercan interests are the only ones that should matter here. If we left the Iraqis might get off their Arabs asses and do something for themselves. Or maybe the Arabs might intervene-either way its better than the current situation. Iraq was not and never will be the focal point of the Middle East.

Your comment about move.on demonstrating if we pull out of iraq is right on. In 1972, when the U.S. pulled out of Viet Nam, the antiwar demonstrations stopped cold.
