When You Set Out to Take Vienna…

BY GOD, SIR, TAKE VIENNA!

Napoleon’s famous advice is as worthy today as it was 200 years ago.

Not to make light of the poor intended victim (and a bit of free advice to you, my dear Captain Shipman– don’t get a restraining order, get a gun) or the moon-loon’s unfortunate blameless family, but what military lessons can we learn from CAPT Nowak’s incontinental transcontinental movement to contact?

Why, as Napoleon would have pointed out, it’s ruthless single-minded concentration on the objective, once you’ve set your sights on it. Or her, as the case may be. OBJECTIVE is, has been and always will be the most important of the nine principles of war, commonly abbreviated as M-O-O-S-E-M-U-S-S.

If only our body politic and our some of our elected officials were as ruthlessly single-minded. We’d have a lot fewer problems. They would do well to remember that when you set out to take Vienna, don’t settle for Salzburg. Take the damn place and be done with it.

Napoleon and Nowak; they’d have made quite a pair.

    hehe, I liked that one.

Ruthless single-mindedness, even with a decent plan of attack and possession of all the necessary resources is no guarantee of success, as this example shows.

Capt. Nowak (nee Caputo) was a classmate of my husband’s (1985)

What is hilarious (and sad) is that her story will trump the big story at their 20th reunion about the transsexual football player who showed up with her/his/? girlfriend.

    Can’t make this stuff up.

Still, gotta feel sorry for her children. That picture of her is everywhere.

I suppose statistics had to catch up with the space program eventually- ’til now the worst to come out of NASA was a politician, and a well-liked one at that.

I want to laugh at this story, but I just can’t find humor in this person throwing her life away like this.

As unfortunate as this story is….it makes GREAT headlines. I think what makes it completely over the top is the amount of times the media will mention that she wore diapers to avoid bathroom breaks with two soiled diapers found in her vehicle. If it wasn’t for that fact, it would be like any other attempted murder by a suedo-celebrity. It shows how mentally desperate she was to commit this premeditated act.

Heh, you ain’t kidding guy. Turned on Foxnews this morning to read: LUST IN SPACE!

Personally, I was hoping for “Mission Complete?…It all depends”

This story is sad, however I hope to see the military takes UCMJ actions against all

three. These are top military Officers in the now open public view. There behavior shows clear Prejudice to good order and discipline. If this Male officer was fooling around with Nowak and she is married they both should be charged with adultery. If this other female Captain is misbehaving or commiting fornification she too should be punished.

Military has no problem punishing E-7 and below for this kind of behavior and ruining

innocent families lives (which is personnal and sexual behavior). Then it is only fair to start punishing the OFFICERS.

They only sad part about this story is the poor innocent family members.

My thoughts and prayers got to the poor innocent children.

Well….I always thought Naval Academy women were strange.

  10. Vonov says:

Sorry is absolutely correct…NASA doesn’t seem to know what to do about it, but all three of these individuals are military personnel subject to the UCMJ. The personnel selected for the astronaut program are supposed to be the cream of the crop, representing our military, NASA, and our nation as exemplary role models. If something similar were to happen to members of, say, the USAF Thunderbirds, all three of those personnel would be in front of their commanders before the ink was dry on the headlines. Wasn’t there a female B-52 pilot bounced from the service a few years ago for much less extreme behavior of a similar nature?
