2006 had its ups and downs. Here's to a better 2007, and this time next year let us find ourselves one step closer to victory. Not just withdrawal, but victory.
From the 10-8 Forums, comes this priceless post by Pat Rogers, which suggests that America's youth are getting on the right track:
"I make 5-7 long walks with the pup daily, and while strolling through the 'hood i see a lot. Lately the crop of 9-11 year olds have been out on the street with plastic guns. rucks and patrol caps. Understand I live in a nice place, and mostly everyone is gov or military, with a mean rank of 0-6/ GS15. [LtCol P note: this is true, I used to live right around the corner, except I was only a captain at the time!]
Today i heard the kids along a stream that runs past the back of my casa. Orders, the ratchet sound of the plastic guns etc. I went out on the back porch in time to see a patrol assulting through a linear ambush. After consolidation they took a break and sorted things out. A young voice cut through the forest.
"THIS TIME YOU HAVE TO BE THE HAJI'S..."
Yeah, the kids are playing Cowboy's and haji's.
Things just may be getting better...."

Girls also need to have the "combat mindset". Hope our right-brain society doesn't beat that predatory instinct out of them as they grow up. The country's going to need it, and today's Iraq generation of vets is setting a pretty high bar.
Well, judging by the cheerleader team at VMI, I think our women are ready for war...
A female "combat mindset" might include a resolute repudiation of sharia law and everything that means to women.
Why feminists the world over are not openly, militantly, opposed to radical Islam remains a mystery to me.
Hate to pour water on this one, but while I am patriotic and fully believe in America and all it stands for, I have serious concerns as to the long-term viability of our country.
Our birthrate is too low. We can't survive on us two-our two thinking. Israel is having the same problem.
Biggest thing though is our extreme aversion to casualties, which seems to be growing if anything. I'm not trying to diminish the sacrifice of our fighting men and women, but if the world's greatest superpower is politically cowed and conflicted by self-doubt after losing 3,500 dead in over five years, we're not going to be the world's greatest superpower for long. I'm not trying to sugar-coat Iraq and Afghanistan here, I think we do have serious problems in both of those places, but as a society we need to be able to deal with our present level of losses. Maybe the reintroduction of the draft is an answer, in that it would familiarize a great proportion of our citizenry with the military and war, but that's a whole different issue.
LAWYERS!!! We were doing okay in both theaters until we sent the lawyers in-country. When we did't flatten Fallujah and we let al-Sadr go, we condemmed ourselves to failure. Get the military back to killing people and breaking things, and leave the social work to others.
The excess lawyer population in the US is wreaking havoc here as well.
And no elected office should be held for more than two terms PERIOD.
Sadr should have been killed back in '04. That was a case of us being unwilling to take a couple months of hell in return for longterm benefit.

It's all about abortion. It doesn't matter that Clinton 'allegedly' raped a woman, assaulted and harassed others; he was there hero because he abused them. Sick ugly bitches that they are.

If a woman truly does not want to have a child, I know the perfect cure. Keep your damn legs closed! Sorry, but too many men have no say as to their 'rights' in this issue. Neither does the innocent child that has been formed by the hands of God! Yes, I said God. So sue me. :)
Do you feel like a man when someone can take the one thing you love most in this world can freely just be taken from you by a court system that allows the death penalty to languish?

I find the kids playing like that to be a great ray of hope! Could be a great opportunity for some neighborhood Dads to help the lads refine their small unit tactics.
Got my 5yr. old his first FPS game (one of Tom Clancy ones) for his Xbox a couple years ago, right after I got home from the sandbox. I just let him go at it, with no guidance. 10 min. later I asked him what he was doing. He whispered "I'm killing BAD PEOPLE." Good Boy!
