Well, There You Have it
By Lt Col P
If I were writing headlines these days...
Perhaps I'd write:
"Socialists Regain Power in United States, Nicaragua"
And possibly even:
"Bin Laden Looks Forward to US Pullout"
But since I don't write headlines, I'll just take a cue from the Greaseman, shake my head ruefully and make myself a bone-dry. And they ask me why I drink.

Already the Dems are backpeddling from all their promises to deliver change in Iraq. One by one, moderating, sobering statements are being issued about the difficulty of the situation and the amount of time it will take -- just like the Republicans used to say.
In fact, Pelosi has said Iraq is "Not a war to be won, but a situation to be resolved." Gee, that's not what you were saying before the election.
This sums up the liberal Democrat approach to national security. The undercutting has begun, but I hope this does not affect the spirit and the morale of the soldiers who are right now working on resolving the situation.
Murtha doesn't want victory. He doesn't want even the appearance victory.
Pre-election Democrats said they will implement the 9/11 Commissions recommendations, which includes reforming and overhauling Congress and it's various committees. However, they've said not a word so far about reforming Congress.
They've already handed the perception of victory over to the terrorists who called for a Democrat win. Gates wants to talk to the Iranians, you know, just like Clinton/Albright did with N. Korea in the '90's on nukes. Already, Dean has floated the possibility of sending troops to Darfur.
Hezbollah activists have reportedly crossed the border from Mexico. Yet the Dems will likely extend amnesty to illegals and make any prosecution of illegals verboten.
Let's hope our soldiers can overcome their civilian "leadership."
The Republicans have only themselves to blame for this loss. The "everything's gonna be alright" attitude of the administration right up till Tuesday is the same attitude it's had on the war in Iraq. I wonder sometimes if they really believe it. It's amazing.
I don't like the Democrats having control of Congress, but maybe this kick in the nuts will be what the Republicans need to get their act together.
As for Iraq, either we decide we want to win or we get the hell out.
I want to cry, but instead I'll have a drink.....then suck it up and drive on.
We've added your post to The Radio Patriots but Haloscan wouldn't let us trackback for some unknown reason.
We're with you 100%. As we shared with Lt. Col. Buzz Patterson in a recent note:
"We are "dis" at the election outcome. Disheartened, disappointed, disillusioned, disgusted, discouraged, discomfited.
But the one thing we are NOT is DISSUADED from the mission that lies ahead. We are encouraging our listeners to buck-up, stay alert, and keep their powder dry!"
We're staying focused.

I'm with you. It's a sad time, yet I am not overly gloomy.
With any election, you vote your conscience, and then hope for the best. We have to admit it, for the Republicans the election was theirs to lose. They lost focus, and allowed themselves to be trampled on by the left and the MSM.
All I can say to the dems is: Good luck. You will find that wanting power is not as much fun as having power. Now YOU will be responsible for the war, and our economy. Screw it up, and the blame will rest squarely on your shoulders - if you have the guts to admit it.
Just one thing: Don't lead our nation towards defeat and embarassment. Walk the walk, and do the right thing.
I'm hoping that not TOO much to ask of them.
