There is perpetual violence in the region because, to put it rather crudely, terror organizations like Hezbollah simply will not stop poking the big neighborhood dog with a stick. The violence will stop as soon as Hezbollah et al chooses for it to stop. Period.
Israel is (along with perhaps Britian) the second best trained and most lethal military in the world, second only to the American Amred Forces.
With the right civillian leadership, they could have dealt hezbollah a fatal blow, just as we could against the Insurgents in Iraq, and Taliban in Afghanistan.
Both countries need new leadership and military re-structuring to remain superior in not just conventional war, but unconventional war as well.

If one side chooses to stop fighting, the fighting will stop. If I don’t attack and /or defend, then it isn’t ‘a fight’ anymore, it’s just ‘being beaten up’.
