Israeli-US plot behind pope's remarks: Iran hardline press
Iranian hardline newspapers said there were signs of an Israeli-US plot behind remarks by Pope Benedict XVI that linked Islam to violence and created a wave of anger across the Muslim world.
The daily Jomhuri Islami said Israel and the United States -- the Islamic republic's two arch-enemies -- could have dictated the comments to distract attention from the resistance of the Shiite militant group Hezbollah to Israel's offensive on Lebanon."The reality is that if we do not consider Pope Benedict XVI to be ignorant of Islam, then his remarks against Islam are a dictat that the Zionists and the Americans have written (for him) and have submitted to him."

This firestorm and murder of an innocent nun is not about the Pope quoting the words of a 14th century Christian emperor who could see from his balcony the barbarians at the gate, but about the Pope's upcoming visit to Turkey this November. This will be his first visit to a Muslim country as Pope. Benedict is not afraid to speak up on the errors of Islam. Indeed he will do that like he did at his alma mater and like he did in Cologne last year. The Islamofascists are afraid the moderate Muslims will listen to this real man of peace and learn the truth. So they've whipped up their goons and unleashed them in the streets to get Kofi Annan, Jacques Chirac, Jimmie Carte and others to shut the Pope up. Already it is unclear whether or not Turkey will/can guarrantee the safety of the Pope during his visit. Soon we will hear whispers that the Pope had to know what he was saying, that he is unresponsible, his comments are helpful, he's hurting Christian/Muslims relations... These are the bozos that haven't clued into the fact that highjacking 4 planes with people on board and flying them into buildings (one into a field) filled with people did far more to set back Christian/Muslims relations than the quoting of a 14th century defender of Christianity ever could...
