The Eagle and the Bear

By John

Sigh, I do miss the Cold War. That's why NORAD-vectored US and Canadian fighter jets intercepting Bear Bombers gives me nostalgic warm fuzzies.

Murdoc has the story.

Bring back the Evil Empire. Ivan was a far better opponent than the clowns we're fighting today.

And to add, what I really meant was that Ronald Reagan would have done a far better job with all aspects of Islamic fascism than anyone in modern-day politics. So, I suppose what I'm really saying, is that I miss Ronald Reagan...

I miss the Cold War since they don't make movies like 'Red Dawn' anymore...but that's me.

While Russia is now just a Bear, abit a mean assed one who is always looking for a way to make a buck, Putin has lasted as long as he has because he is not only smart, tough but knows that given the right circumstances and enough money can regain much of it's past glory.

That is if the Muslims don't take over first. But, being the world's number one weapons supplier and the world's number one supplier of oil, he has more than dollar signs in his eyes.

His goverment just told him he can't be king past 2008, so he is going to have to make other behind the scene arrangments, to continue his plans.

Yea, it might take them fifty years, but if the oil holds out, the Muslims don't take over, the Chinese don't squash them and they can keep selling weapons to everybody (including us) the Russian Bear just might stand upright again and bare his teeth to the world again.

Well said!

I posted on how I believe that our fixation with "The Red Menace" actually overshadowed the true evil waiting to strike - Islamofascism. (see The Red Menace Overshadowed True Evil)

At least in the Cold War, there were real combatants, real rules of engagement, and the Geneva Convention actually meant something. Both sides knew what was going on ... it's not like the US was slavering for Soviet Vodka and Arm and Hammer Baking Soda!!! :)

The whack-nuts we're up against now are just plain terrorists with tons of oil ... and since the Liberals refuse to let us drill for oil at home, Islamofascists gots-us over the, barrel ... $65-80 worth, each! :)
