An F-22 Raptor hovers vertically above the Arctic Thunder air show and open house at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, on Aug. 13. The Raptor was flown by Maj. Michael Shower, who will become the first commander of the F-22 squadron at Elmendorf next summer.

I saw it at Andrews in May and it was awesome!
it goes straight up and when it reaches the certain elevation, it stops just stays in that position, I think you can call it 'hovering'
and its power while going up reverbates through your entire body...awesome

Nice pic. But I wonder if the jet was actually hovering. The wake/contrail above the engine intakes and behind the canopy suggests some pretty serious velocity.
Unless there is something else going on in that area...
