Interesting post, although I still contend that all the high-tech wizardry in the world can't compete with a good pair of boots on the ground.

I’m an electrical engineer, and I am known around the world (in geek circles, obviously).
I swear I’m not bragging here, but I have many patents, and more than $2 billion in products sold, so far, which I have designed.
And I agree with you 100%.
People win wars. Technology just helps.
ALL elements are on the same side and are interdependent upon each other when victory is the goal.
We knew that in WWII.

I am an Intelligence Analyst and I agree with all of the above comments. Essentially, technology can help seek and destroy, but in the end, we need the brave soldier to crawl into the window to actually complete the mission.

A pair of boots on the ground with some of these bugs would be good. I've put in an order for a dragonfly and a ladybug.
"all the high-tech wizardry in the world can't compete with a good pair of boots on the ground."
True today. May not be true in 20 years. Almost certainly won't be true in 50 years. And once it becomes possible, most Western militaries will go that route, if only because nobody loses votes when a robot dies. Get used to the idea, it's coming.
