Wow, that just made it to the top of my Christmas list.

  2. Maj P says:

Ah, the old external lift. It used to be a crapshoot with the M198 and the CH-53E. I think the lightweight 155 and the V-22 will be a better match. (Btw, you can easily verify if this is a Marine howitzer by looking for the bayonet lug on the muzzle brake.)

  3. Steve says:

Hmmm … thi reads like you’re advocating the destruction of the howitzer here. I’m assuming that’s not quite what you had in mind … ? :)

*drool* I love the Osprey. Great pictures. Thanks, John.

at least it is flying and not crashing in this picture. i think i may have to be the narrow minded jerkwad here and say that these things were a waste of money and good marines’ lives.

  6. Maj P says:

Negative! As a career artillery officer, I advocate the preservation of all howitzers. This photo shows the new lightweight 155 slung under a V-22, and that is the better match of which I spoke. MUCH BETTER than the M198 and the -53E. (BTW, the problem there was never the 53E’s fault, not the pilots’; that gun is just a big piece of gear.)

Please clarify for a poor dumb ex-army groundpounder, but does that bayonet get used in conjunction with the Osprey? If not that brings up the next question…How many marines does it take to operate a bayonet?

I think it uses some high speed Robotech shit.

How many marines does it take to operate a bayonet?

About a company sized element. There are a lot of computers to run which takes a lot of jarheads to do the math since they count by stomping their feet.
