Anti-War Logic

By John

Firedoglake, one of the most profane and vicious of the liberal anti-war blogs, has a big problem with G-Dub using naughty words to describe the terrorist group Hezbollah.

Using vulgar language to describe Republicans, conservatives, and those who support the war is still fair game, however.

yeah, they are hypocrites no doubt.

I don't understand why people are making a big deal out of this. I use much more colorful language than Dubya did to describe what's going on, so do most people.

I find it much more worrying that media types are electronically eavesdropping on our president and other world leaders.

William Scharf   ·  July 17, 2006 10:27 AM

i have read some of firedoglake and you are right. they are a very angry bunch.

Meri-death   ·  July 17, 2006 10:28 AM

I would not take too much stock in what firedoglake has to say.

All they have to sell is anger. This obvious double standard should not be a surprise to anyone.

Followed the link to firedoglake...Ugh! What a bunch of morons. Speaking of which, I also followed a link from PajamasMedia to Kos...more morons. Which leads me to a question. Are there any sites out there that espouse the left wing view point that are not just mindless Bush bashing? I would be interested in at least hearing their opinions.

saw1   ·  July 17, 2006 11:13 AM

Saw, these days, with the left wing blogosphere as vicious and angry as it is, I am so thankful for democratic voices who are reasoned and measured.

Robert Farley of Lawyers, Guns, and Money runs a respectable place, and is worth a visit if you're interested in intelligent, differing viewpoints....as opposed to jeering and sophmoric name calling disguised as political discourse.

John   ·  July 17, 2006 11:20 AM

I think the exchange between Bush and Blair actually underscores the continuous and franks discussions which take place between world leaders. GWB's use of the "naughty" phrase in a quiet, unguarded moment reminds us of his humanity and frustration with a portion of the world which seems hell bent on self destruction.

PS - Great piece on battlespace preparation. I note the lack of Lebanese resistance (from formal forces)

MSM sources are often just as bad as some blogs in their anti-war bias. By way of example, read this article and consider why this brave lady isn't as well known as Cindy Sheehan;

Warren Smith   ·  July 17, 2006 07:04 PM

the MSM is more concerned with the entertainment value than what is actually occuring. just look at what they cover and their focus. its Moonbattery.

Veeshir   ·  July 18, 2006 08:03 AM

Well, I hate to say it, but the President's language did not bother me at all. It would be silly to assume that world leaders somehow manage to escape the use of profanity. However, his table manners really were atrocious. I am sure Barbara and probably Laura were very unhappy.

I don't think this incident sullied the Office of the Presidency as much as say... having an intern in the knee hole of the Presidential desk in the Oval Office, but nonetheless, he is the President, and should try to present himself publicly with a little dignity and decorum.

Of course, he was right. That fucker Anan should call that sonofabitch Assad, and get him to tell Hizbollah to stop all of this shit.

Bottom line is that this G-8 summit was supposed to be centered around bringing Russia on board to get tough with Iran over nukes. Instead we are talking about Israel, Lebanon and the President's language. You have it hand it to the Iranians, this entire Hizbollah provacation has been a brilliant misdirection. Who knows how many weeks or months this has bought them to continue with their weapons programs.

Keep your eye on the ball people. Israel can handle Hizbollah and Syria too, just fine on her own. The real threat and the instigator of this conflict are one and the same: Iran. How long has it been since President Bush said Iran would have weeks not months to respond to the offer made by the West?
