Fewer Hummers in Iraq: Are we withdrawing?

rebuilt.jpg

You’ll be seeing less of these in Iraq. The U.S. military is reducing the number of Humvees and other equipment and shipping them home to be rebuilt. Is a withdrawal on the horizon? (AP Photo/Ryan Lenz)

Wow… I’ll really be seeing less of these? Gosh -better tell the 3 SBCT/2ID, who will be deploying to Iraq soon (minus one LT Watada)

Here’s a hint for you reporter-types out there: HMMWVs have 4 wheels. Better luck next time…

But there are clearly 4 wheels shown in the picture… DEVELOPING!

  2. Warren Smith says:

I guess that reporter was just getting ahead of the news cycle.

After all, how do you know Humvees have four wheels? Did someone from Halliburton tell you? ;-)

  3. goesh says:

That’s one big fat ugly hummer allright. This reminds of a news report I heard a few years back about some shooting somewhere and the hysterical reporter said “the police are on hand with automatic machineguns and Glock assault rifles” – what a bunch of idiots

  4. old NaCl says:

ROFLMAO! Great, so now we’re gonna see Jr. gangsta’s driving THAT on the American roads bling’ed to the max?

  5. Doug says:

Almost as bad (sad) was a Newsday headline featuring the president and a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy. The paper called the officer a Merchant Marine…

The editor must have figured after all it’s the Merchant MARINE Academy.

My father and brother in laws graduated from that school. It did not go over well with the family.

The bright white naval uniform was just not obvious enough, I guess.

  6. Lawrence says:

Lets see… IED keep blowing up our Hummers, so the military is going to reduce Hummmers and increase other vehicles that have better armor. What’s that got to do with “Withdrawl”?

But of course, the key anti-military point to this article is “Withdrawl”, not the vehicle change… sneaky…

  7. Steve says:

Heh … reminds me of a photo I saw some years ago in the “respectable” paper in my hometown. It was captioned something like “Russian tanks on maneuvers”. It showed 13 BMP-1′s, 6 SP 122mm howitzers, and 3 or 4 jeep-type vehicles (UAZ-469?). The was not so much as One! Single! Tank! in the photo …
