Spam Attack

Some of you may have noticed that our comment sections having been slammed with spam the last couple of days. I've been banning, junking, and repeating every 10-12 hours in hopes that this particular spambot runs out of steam, but I think that may be wishful thinking.
Fair warning, we may have to implement some sort of registration/comment approval if we keep getting hit.
By the way, I fully support making spamming a capital crime, punishable by death.

You probably already know this:
'blogger.com' sites have had this problem for a long time.
Not all blogger.com sites us it yet, but they have an Word Verification protocol based on a graphical word that one must type in as security verification when posting a comment.
It works very well, and only a tiny inconvenience to posters.
This is one reason I made my blog moderated. I know this slows down discussions, but I would rather have moderated facts devoid of poor interjections than have every crackpot posting their propaganda and attacking others.
Make that a very slow, excruciatingly painful death.
Go ahead and implement registration for commenting - these spam bots will not let up - they're like the Terminiator.
IMHO, it's the one minimum thing you can do to get any relief.
Castration with a dull spoon prior to the execution!!!

John, If I might suggest the addition of just one word, in your last sentence. Your last line, in my view, should read, "By the way, I fully support making spamming a capital crime, punishable by a SLOW death." If you have ever used a "user-friendly" system which has been turned into a "user-belligerent" system. They would understand the sentiment. The other thing is this is someone's choice.
