04/12/06 – A U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft flies over Afghanistan in support of Operation Mountain Lion on April 12, 2006. U.S. Air Force F-15, A-10 Thunderbolt II and B-52 Stratofortress aircraft are providing close-air support to troops on the ground engaged in rooting out insurgent sanctuaries and support networks. The F-15 crew and fighter are deployed to the 336th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron in Southwest Asia from the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C.

Can you reference where the B-52 bomber force is based that is supporting ground ops, and when and where the last ops for the B-52 were?
My understanding is that B-5 strikes were discontinued last year.

Great pic. Love fighter jets and big guns!
Hey guys, let's not forget to include the mighty C-130 Hercules variants working in the Afghan theater–gunships, Combat Talons, and "slicks." These guys are working closer to the customer than any of aircraft in the theater aside from the array of Army and Air Force helicopters one finds at Bagram and Kandahar. I know, 'cause I've been there and done that.
Papa Ray,
Buffs (B-52's) if they are tasked, are based out of Diego Garcia. Seeing more Bones (B-1's) picking up the CAS load in OEF.
Notice the load of JDAMs and GBU's on this Mud Hen. Very nice.
Nav Hendo – God bless the Spookys.
Screejay
These look a lot like the F15's from Lakenheath England. Check the tail insignias.
